Munich, October 13, 2025 – "Go ahead, nimble four-legged friends!" was the motto this weekend at the "3rd Munich Dachshund Race powered by ALLIANZ." The turbulent dachshund race was the highlight of DogWorld 2025, which attracted around 30,000 visitors to Motorworld Munich on October 11 and 12. With a time of 3.58 seconds, defending champion Luitpold from Eching once again secured the overall victory, beating his previous year's best time by almost a second. With his best time, the Eching dachshund also set a new world record as the fastest dachshund. The deaf dachshund Lewi won the inclusion class and won the hearts of the audience. Another highlight was the DogHero Award ceremony, which honored five exceptional individuals, human-dog teams, initiatives, and projects.

125 dachshunds from Germany, Austria, France, and Switzerland competed in this year's Dachshund Race.
The little sprinters raced against each other in five starting classes on the 40-meter-long dachshund mile – cheered and encouraged by a cheerful crowd. Carrera added a motorsports flair with a starting arch and the Carrera Safety Dog – a tongue-in-cheek reference to the safety car on racetracks.
DogHero Award presented for the first time: Five winners
The winners of the various starting classes at a glance:
- Up to 5 kg: Bazooka aka Giulietta Beretta vom Rothsee from Aldrans, Austria, with a time of 4.93 seconds
- Up to 7.9 kg: Lotti from Bobingen, with a time of 4.82 seconds

The "DogHero – The Dog Cross of Merit" was awarded for the first time on Saturday.
DogWorld patron Diana Eichhorn, together with DogHero initiator Kay MacKenneth, selected five award winners – exceptional individuals, exceptional initiatives, and human-dog teams who, through their exceptional commitment or innovative ideas, improve the lives of dogs, making them safer and more livable, and making a valuable contribution to society. Accepting the DogHero Award were Andrea de Mello for Tiertafel München e.V., Brigitte Meurer with her rescue dog Caruso, Svenja Gruszeczka for the "Senioren für Senioren" initiative, Simon Schuß and Dominik Hogen for Pawsthesis (3D-printed prosthetics and orthotics for injured dogs), and animal rights activist Melanie Schmidt, who has been actively fighting the illegal puppy trade for over 10 years.
