Impressions from the first day of the Oktoberfest in Munich
Munich. Brilliant blue Oktoberfest sky over Munich, a Wiesn dog on the edge and the guests run onto the Oktoberfest grounds before the Oktoberfest beer flows into the mugs. This is Munich too! And the question “Are you going to college this year?” is no question for us Munich residents. The 189th Oktoberfest is open! The organizer of the Munich Oktoberfest counted half a million visitors yesterday. Queues were already forming at dawn and then at 9 a.m. the run to the Oktoberfest started! Everyone was running and trying to get good seats. But: before 12 p.m. there were only non-alcoholic drinks (without beer). Under a bright blue sky, the Oktoberfest hosts took to the festival meadow. A good 9,000 costumers, marching bands and music bands created a beautiful atmosphere as they entered the Theresienwiese. Thousands of onlookers lined the streets to watch this festive procession.

When tapping draft beer in the Schottenhamel festival tent, Munich Mayor Dieter Reiter only needed two taps and shouted loudly "O'zapft is - here's to a peaceful Oktoberfest!"
... then he filled the beer mug and handed it over to the Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Sölder. Both toasted a peaceful Oktoberfest!
The gunners could be heard over the festival meadow.
Everyone now knew: the 189th Munich Oktoberfest 2024 has officially opened. Oktoberfest beer 2024 from the six major Munich breweries Augustiner, Hacker-Pschorr, Hofbräu, Löwenbräu, Paulaner and Spaten flowed in all festival tents and Oktoberfest beer gardens.
We were amazed at so much concentrated joy of life. Yes, the start of the Oktoberfest is something special every year.
