Munich: 15 more days until O'ZAPFT is released

"Anstich" - probably the most important Oktoberfest date is the tapping in the Schottenhamel festival tent!

Only 15 days left until the opening of the 189th Munich Oktoberfest 2024: The Oktoberfest beer won't flow until it's tapped in the Schottenhamel festival hall! ... and the fastest flow is probably in the Paulaner pipeline...

Date: Oktoberfest in Munich September 21st to October 6th, 2024

Munich.
When the Oktoberfest hosts are in their festival halls and tents on September 21, 2024, the opening ceremony at the Munich Oktoberfest begins. All morning we see dirndls and boys in lederhosen streaming towards the Oktoberfest, because the first day of the Oktoberfest is exciting, fun and always something special. There are a few entrances to the festival meadow so that you can come to the big Munich festival from different directions and the tents are open from 9 a.m. All over the festival tents, those who have reserved a table for this day are already sitting and waiting in anticipation for the tapping.

Everyone else is sitting at the screens and watching the O-zapf ceremony live

... on Bayerischer Rundfunk or TV-MÜNCHEN. ... On the first Saturday of the Oktoberfest, everyone is waiting for the mayor of Munich to make his announcement with a pint of beer in his hand

„O'zapft is!“

The Munich mayor traditionally opens the Oktoberfest

At exactly 12 noon there is an earthquake on the Oktoberfest meadow, because then the mayor of Munich hits the first barrel of Oktoberfest beer (puts the tap in as few blows as possible) and the gunners give it their all and fire from all cylinders ;-))

During tapping it becomes loud:

... when all the guests in the Schottenhamel festival hall count the strokes that Dieter Reiter needs to open the first wooden Oktoberfest beer keg.

- By the way, Dieter Reiter and Christian Ude hold the record with 2 strokes! The guests had to wait the longest in 1950 for Mayor Thomas Wimmer, who, as you read and be amazed, needed 17 strokes... he just couldn't stop... :-)))) -

When the jug is filled, the mayor traditionally calls

“O’zapft is! Here’s to a peaceful Oktoberfest!”

Mayor Dieter Reiter then presents Dr. Markus Söder, the incumbent Prime Minister of Bavaria, traditionally takes the first measure.

12 gunshots echo from the Bavaria over the Theresienwiese and mark the beginning of the beer serving in the festival tents

The twelve cannon shots from the shooters on the stairs in front of the Bavaria can be heard all over Munich, announcing the start of the Oktoberfest: let's get started!

From now on, Oktoberfest beer will be flowing and music will be playing in the Wiesn tents, which will be open from 9 a.m., the rides will start and the Ferris wheel will be turning.

Now it's going to be 3 weeks in Munich!!!

The fastest beer probably flows in the Paulaner festival tent on the tower with the large beer mug

Incredible, the good Paulaner tap system will become a beer pipeline at top speed in 2024! It creates a whopping 15 measurements per minute. That means: nobody has to wait long :-)) and the service is also in the starting blocks.
