Museum fans will meet on October 19, 2024 for the “Long Night of Munich Museums”: With over 100 participating museums, galleries and exhibitions as well as a special program, the nightly tour is a milestone in the cultural calendar of the Bavarian capital every year. During a long Munich night, over 100 museums, galleries, churches and special places open their doors so that their guests can experience the extensive and exciting Munich art and culture scene. The program of the 25th Long Night of Munich Museums


  1.     the European Patent Office provides exclusive insights into its collection of diverse contemporary art;
  2.     the Sudeten German Museum presents an impressive light installation,
  3.     The House of the German East explains the “German Minority in Romania” in its current exhibition
  4.     The State Archaeological Collection presents its important finds, including artifacts from prehistory and early history.
  5.     At Galerie Handwerk, weaving becomes an experience and invites you to try it out.
  6.     The Church of St. Andreas becomes a “Mysterious Garden” through a light installation.
  7.     The Five Continents Museum is sponsoring this year's poster motif and serves as a source of inspiration for intercultural topics and artistic discussions.
  8.     The Munich fire brigade exhibition takes you into the history of urban fire protection.
  9.     The WOW Museum was recently added to the program, where an interactive world of optical illusions and creative installations can be explored.


The special program for the anniversary night is the curated exploration tour through Munich



  1.     By bike you follow in the footsteps of the Munich painter Magda Bittner-Simmet
  2.     Cultural advisor Anton Biebl takes the bus through his favorite places in Munich's club culture
  3.     The historic wholesale market hall in Munich can be explored on foot


A special highlight is, among other things, the nighttime view from the museum tower of the German Museum over the roofs of the city

Urban art is available at Theresienwiese with MunichArt

MUCA: Iconic works by the artist Damien Hirst are shown in guided tours that require registration.

There is a great children's program for the little ones



A special program for children and families at 14 locations from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The children's program offers great hands-on activities, with children's tours, workshops and hands-on activities ranging from antiquity to contemporary art, natural science and technology to Munich's city history.


Prices:


  •     Children's ticket for 5 euros (up to 4 children, if necessary an accompanying adult)
  •     or a regular ticket for 20 euros, which is valid for the evening program from 6 p.m. and in the afternoon for up to four children and, if necessary, an accompanying adult.

MVG joins in - mobility becomes an experience

  • The MVG shuttle buses make the Long Night of Munich Museums a mobile one
    Voyage of discovery. 
  • You can be chauffeured through the city on five routes.



    But on two additional lines the journey itself becomes an experience:


    •     In nostalgic vintage buses you travel in style to the MVG Museum, where the past comes to life.
    •     In the Rolling Museum, the vintage cars become a stage as they drive back and forth between the German Museum on Museum Island and the German Museum Transport Center on Theresienhöhe.
