MUSEUM FRIEDER BURDA - Baden-Baden
The cosmos of images by the Japanese artist Yoshitomo Nara!
Exhibition of YOSHITOMO NARA from November 23, 2024 – April 27, 2025
Baden-Baden. In the exhibition of the artist “Yoshitomo Nara” (born 1959), the Museum Frieder Burda is showing the artist's first major retrospective in Germany with paintings, drawings, sculptures and installations from a total of four decades of work. The Japanese Yoshitomo Nara (*1959) is one of the best-known artists of his generation, who achieved international fame with the so-called “Angry Girls” and his Kawaii characters. His highly stylized depictions of girls, which often appear threatening, defiant and angry or melancholic and insecure with large heads and captivating eyes, have become his trademark - and are now considered icons of contemporary painting.
