Insider tip: Munich's Feuerzangenbowle behind the Schrannenhalle
The Munich Feuerzangenbowle behind the Schrannenhalle at the Viktualienmarkt is a daily meeting place for Bavarian coziness until December 6, 2026.
This year, the Munich Feuerzangenbowle will be served from November 24 to January 6 on weekends from 12 pm (weekdays from 3 pm) and usually until 10 pm - Feuerzangenbowle behind the Schrannenhalle, Blumenstr. 22, 80331 Munich (Deutsch, English, Français, Italiano)
Munich. Besides its countless Christmas markets, Munich also boasts the popular meeting place at the Munich Feuerzangenbowle. Like the druid's cauldron in the "Asterix & Obelix" comics, there's a huge cauldron full of enchanting and warming Feuerzangenbowle. Previously, we found this in the inner courtyard of the Isartor, but this year (due to the gate's renovation) you'll find the magic potion behind the Schrannenhalle, more precisely at Blumenstraße 22 (right next to the high-rise bunker). ATTENTION: For your New Year's Eve celebration – on January 31st – the fire pot will be open until late... (See opening times below) ...

The large cauldron holds almost 9,000 liters of Feuerzangenbowle – formerly known as "Krambamboli"
Feuerzangenbowle gets its name from the giant tongs placed over the cauldron. A rum-soaked, flaming sugar cone rests on the tongs. As the sugar melts and caramelizes, the rum aroma drips into the hot red wine in the cauldron, giving the Feuerzangenbowle its distinctive flavor.
This type of punch has a long history and has been a popular Christmas drink for 200 years.
