Munich. Every visitor to Munich should know this folk festival, the Jakobidult: it is Munich's oldest festival—the traditional Auer Dult. It was held for the first time in 1310. This lovely Munich folk festival, the "Jakobidult," runs from July 25 to August 2, 2026. Each year, around 300 merchants, artists, artisans, food stall operators, and showmen participate in this wonderful Munich festival. In Munich, people enjoy festivals as they come. This "little pre-Wiesn" event takes place in the Au district until August 2, 2026. The Auer Dult is held three times a year—in May, July, and October (see below)! The annual Jakobidult once again features specialty food stalls, beer gardens, and artisans. Visitors of all ages will find refreshment, fun, and entertainment. Featuring a chain swing ride and a Ferris wheel from 1925, bumper cars and a boat swing, a can-toss game, a duck pond game, and shooting galleries.

(located in the Au district, east of the Isar River)

The Auer Dult is an annual market—and a mini version of the Oktoberfest

... offering unique handcrafted items from artisans such as carpet weavers, woodcarvers, and potters; visitors can also find antiquarian books, Bavarian delicacies, beer gardens, and carousels. The Auer Dult is a traditional Munich fair.

Fun for the whole family at the Auer Dult

Bumper cars, ring toss, ball-throwing games, and a children's carousel—as well as puppet shows featuring *Kasperl* and friends—await visitors at the Auer Dult. The air smells just like the Oktoberfest, and visitors can snack on cotton candy and roasted almonds.

Culinary delights: the Auer Dult offers a full range of Bavarian specialties

At the Auer Dult on Mariahilfplatz, you can find tasty treats ranging from sweet to savory at every turn. Good food and drink are simply an essential part of any festival in Munich.

190th Munich Oktoberfest 2025

190th Munich Oktoberfest - State Capital Munich

The Munich Oktoberfest countdown is on: 36 days and almost 16 hours until the cry: "Let's go to the Wiesn 2025" and "Ozapft is!"

September 20th to October 5th - 190th Oktoberfest in Munich - There can only be one original Oktoberfest! (English version, Deutsch, Français, Italiano)

Munich. From September 20th to October 5th, the Bavarian capital invites the whole world to the Theresienwiese for the world's largest folk festival: the 190th Munich Oktoberfest. This year, Munich (as the locals affectionately call their city) will celebrate for 16 days. It all begins with the traditional tapping of the keg by Munich's mayor Dieter Reiter on September 20th, at exactly 12 noon - as always in the Schottenhamel Festhalle. The cry "Ozapft is!" means "It's tapped!" in good Bavarian. This announcement by Dieter Reiter is followed by twelve cannon shots, signaling the start of beer sales in all festival halls. Now the beer flows from the barrels of Munich's breweries. The mayor taps the first liter of beer for Bavarian Minister-President Dr. Markus Söder. This annual opening ceremony takes place every year at noon on the first Saturday after September 15th—this year, on Saturday, September 20th, 2025. But there's still a lot to do before then; anyone looking across the meadow can witness the creation of the Oktoberfest city of beer halls every day.

The festival grounds are located at the foot of the Bavaria statue.

The festival grounds on Munich's Theresienwiese cover an area of 42 hectares, almost the size of 60 football fields. And anyone who knows the Wiesn before the Oktoberfest build-up knows: grass really grows here! At least between the paved paths.
