Munich. In the heart of the city, one particular beer garden rotates its featured beer variety every five to six weeks: at the beer garden located within the Viktualienmarkt, visitors can enjoy a different Munich beer every few weeks—whether standing at the bar or seated in the garden itself. Incidentally, you can also sample all six of these beer varieties at the 191st Munich Oktoberfest on the Theresienwiese grounds, running from September 19 to October 4, 2026 ... perhaps over the course of six days—one *Maß* (liter mug) per day ... The taverns and beer gardens belonging to these respective breweries can be found scattered throughout Munich. Incidentally, International Beer Day is celebrated worldwide every year on the first Friday of August—in 2026, this day falls on August 7th! At times like these, there is only one thing to say: a warm welcome to the beautiful cosmopolitan city of Munich ... or, as the locals in the beer tents often tell the tourists: "Hock di her, dann san ma mehr!"  Augustiner-Bräu, gladden your heart! - The Augustiner Brewery is Munich's oldest brewery

The brewery was founded in 1328, making it the oldest brewery still in existence in Munich. The Augustiner-Bräu always refrained from advertising and always used a bulbous bottle, while other breweries used the narrow NRW bottle for bottling. The Augustiner Brewery is located south of the railway tracks on Landsberger Straße at the Hackerbrücke. Anyone passing by will recognize the long brick wall.

But back to history: The monks of the Augustinian Order produced the first beer to enjoy popularity throughout Bavaria as early as 1328. The "Augustiner" was privatized in 1817. The Augustiner Hell still bears the bulbous Augustinian monk as a label.

The Hacker-Pschorr Brewery was founded in 1417, in the late Middle Ages.

Hacker-Pschorr beer was first documented in 1417. At that time, the brewery was already located on Sendlinger Straße, not far from the town hall (Old Town Hall - now the Toy Museum). Today, the "Altes Hackerhaus" restaurant is still located here.

From the 18th century onward, the Munich couple Joseph Pschorr and Maria Theresia Hacker led their company to the top of Munich's breweries. Through inheritance, the Hacker Brewery and Pschorr Brewery split, resulting in two beer brands. Since 1972, the brewery has been brewed again under the dual name "Hacker-Pschorr."

The former brewery site was located south of the Hacker Bridge. Hacker-Pschorr is now part of the Paulaner Beer Group. Hacker-Pschorr's 13 beers, some of which are brewed seasonally, are bottled exclusively in swing-top bottles.

Löwenbräu was founded behind the Frauenkirche in the Löwengrube (Lion's Den).

It was first brewed in the Middle Ages (late 14th century). The title "Löwenbräu" as a brand first appears in documents in 1746 (Munich Beer Brewery Catalogue). In the 19th century, the brewery, run by the Brey family, became the largest brewery in Munich. The Löwenbräu festival beer later originated on Nymphenburger Straße, where we can still find the Löwenbräukeller with its beer garden at Stiglmaierplatz. Incidentally, the famous Starkbierfest (strong beer festival) and the "Nacht der Tracht" (Night of Traditional Costume) are both popular events here.

Since 1997, the Spaten-Franziskaner-Löwenbräu Group has operated jointly under the Interbrew brewing group, now InBev.

The Hofbräu from the internationally renowned Hofbräuhaus am Platzl in Munich

The song "In Munich stands a Hofbräuhaus..." ( "In München steht ein Hofbräuhaus …") is world-famous and promotes the beer from the heart of the city. The beer has been brewed since 1589, when William V founded his ducal brewery. Since the 19th century, the brewery has been located on Innere Wiener Straße, where the spectacular, famous Hofbräukeller with its fabulous beer garden attracts visitors.

In 1939, Hofbräu passed into state ownership. The Staatliches Hofbräuhaus brewery in Munich is arguably the most well-known beer brand and was originally founded in the Alter Hof (Old Court). The famous Hofbräuhaus on Platzl, not far from the Viktualienmarkt, is now one of the city's most important tourist attractions. The brewery now operates just outside the city, near the exhibition center.

The Paulaner Brewery with the monk "Brother Barnabas"

The Paulaner Brewery was founded by monks in the Munich district of Au. It was in 1634 that the monks of the Paulaner Order brewed a beer that went down in history as the Paulaner Festbier and is still served at Oktoberfest today.

What was initially enjoyed only by monks soon flowed down the throats of Munich's beer lovers as Bock beer, made according to Brother Barnabas's old recipe. The Paulaner Brewery headquarters moved a few years ago (2016) from the famous Giesinger Nockherberg, known for the Starkbierfest (strong beer festival) with its famous "Derblecken" (poking fun at politicians), to Munich-Langwied.

The brewery's headquarters remain in the Au on Ohmüllerstraße, and above it is the Paulaner am Nockherberg, a popular beer garden and festival venue for the annual Starkbierfest (strong beer festival), with its keynote speech and musical comedy. The Paulaner Brewery is one of the sponsors of FC Bayern Munich.

Spatenbräu - The "Spaten" brand tapped the first "Münchner Hell"

The famous Spaten Brewery also originated in the Middle Ages: founded in 1397. It all began in Neuhauser Gasse. The brewery then moved to Marsstraße – today the administrative headquarters. Like Löwenbräu and Franziskaner, the Spaten Brewery belongs to the international beer group AB InBev.

Spaten launched "Münchner Hell" in 1894, which quickly became a best-seller. The former brewery site now houses a visitor museum, and the beer is brewed in the former brewhouse of Löwenbräu AG.

Munich. Everyone waited for the magic words "O'zapft is! To a peaceful Oktoberfest!" Dieter Reiter announced the opening of the first Oktoberfest keg. Munich. Tout le monde attendait les mots magiques : « O'zapft is ! À une Oktoberfest paisible ! » Dieter Reiter a annoncé l'ouverture du premier fût de l'Oktoberfest. Le ministre-président bavarois Markus Söder a reçu le premier litre de bière. Douze coups de canon ont retenti dans toute la salle, et tout Munich savait que c'était l'heure. En route pour l'Oktoberfest !

 Le tirage de la bière et cette tradition ancestrale ont été introduits par le maire de Munich, Thomas Wimmer, il y a 75 ans

Manquant d'expérience, Wimmer a dû tirer 17 coups pour la première chope de l'Oktoberfest. D'ailleurs, Christian Ude a un jour réussi à tout compléter de deux coups pour la première fois. Alors, comme l'a dit le maire : « Bonjour, une Oktoberfest paisible ! »

L'or coule désormais dans les verres

Une bière blanche délicieusement dorée et une bière blonde fraîche… Investir dans la bière est toujours un investissement sûr pour les plaisirs culinaires…

Munich compte six grandes brasseries : 

• Augustiner, 
• Hacker-Pschorr, 
• Löwenbräu, 
• Hofbräu, 
• Paulaner 
• et Spaten

Ces six bières peuvent également être dégustées à l'Oktoberfest de Munich, sur la Theresienwiese, dans les auberges et les brasseries en plein air. Par exemple, au Wirtshauswiesn !

La bière Hacker-Pschorr est mentionnée pour la première fois en 1417. 

À cette époque, la brasserie était déjà située Sendlinger Straße, non loin de l'hôtel de ville (l'ancien hôtel de ville, aujourd'hui le musée du Jouet). Aujourd'hui, l'auberge « Altes Hackerhaus » s'y trouve toujours.

À partir du XVIIIe siècle, le couple munichois Joseph Pschorr et Maria Theresia Hacker propulsèrent leur entreprise au sommet des brasseries munichoises. Suite à un héritage, les brasseries Hacker et Pschorr se séparèrent, donnant naissance à deux marques de bière. Depuis 1972, la brasserie brasse à nouveau sous le double nom « Hacker-Pschorr ».

L'ancienne brasserie était située au sud du pont Hackerbrücke. Hacker-Pschorr fait désormais partie du groupe brassicole Paulaner. Les 13 bières Hacker-Pschorr, dont certaines sont brassées uniquement de façon saisonnière, sont exclusivement mises en bouteille dans des bouteilles à bouchon mécanique.

La brasserie Löwenbräu a été fondée derrière la Frauenkirche, dans la Löwengrube (la Fosse aux Lions).

Elle a été brassée pour la première fois au Moyen Âge (fin du XIVe siècle). Le nom de marque « Löwenbräu » apparaît pour la première fois dans des documents en 1746 (Catalogue de la brasserie munichoise). Au XIXe siècle, sous la direction de la famille Brey, la brasserie devint la plus grande brasserie de Munich. La bière festive Löwenbräu naquit plus tard dans la Nymphenburger Straße, où se trouvent encore aujourd'hui la Löwenbräukeller et le Biergarten sur la Stiglmaierplatz. La célèbre Starkbierfest (fête de la bière forte) et la « Nacht der Tracht » (Nuit des costumes traditionnels) sont d'ailleurs deux événements populaires de la ville.

Depuis 1997, le groupe Spaten-Franziskaner-Löwenbräu opère conjointement sous l'égide du groupe brassicole Interbrew, aujourd'hui InBev.

La Hofbräu de la célèbre Hofbräuhaus am Platzl de Munich

La chanson « À Munich se dresse une Hofbräuhaus… » est mondialement connue et met en avant la bière originaire du cœur de la ville. Brassée depuis 1589, année de la fondation de la brasserie ducale par Guillaume V, elle est située depuis le XIXe siècle sur l'Innere Wiener Straße, où la célèbre et spectaculaire Hofbräukeller et son magnifique biergarten attirent les visiteurs.

En 1939, la Hofbräu est devenue propriété de l'État. La Staatliches Hofbräuhaus de Munich est sans doute la marque de bière la plus connue et a été fondée à l'origine dans l'Alter Hof (l'Ancienne Cour). La célèbre Hofbräuhaus am Platzl, non loin du Viktualienmarkt, est aujourd'hui l'une des attractions touristiques les plus importantes de la ville. La brasserie est désormais située juste à l'extérieur de la ville, près du parc des expositions.

La Brasserie Paulaner avec le moine « Frère Barnabé »

La Brasserie Paulaner a été fondée par des moines dans le quartier munichois d'Au. C'est en 1634 que les moines de l'Ordre de Paulaner brassèrent une bière entrée dans l'histoire sous le nom de Paulaner Festbier, encore servie aujourd'hui à l'Oktoberfest.

Ce qui était initialement réservé aux moines s'est rapidement répandu dans les gorges des amateurs de bière munichois sous le nom de Bockbier, élaborée selon l'ancienne recette de Frère Barnabé. Le siège de la Brasserie Paulaner a déménagé il y a quelques années (2016) du célèbre Giesinger Nockherberg, connu pour sa fête de la bière forte et ses fameux « Derblecken » (se moquer des politiciens), à Munich-Langwied.

La brasserie est toujours située à Au, dans la Ohmüllerstraße. Au-dessus se trouve le Paulaner am Nockherberg, un bar à bières populaire qui accueille chaque année le festival de la bière forte, avec discours et comédie musicale.

La brasserie Paulaner est l'un des sponsors du FC Bayern Munich.

 

Spatenbräu - La marque « Spaten » a créé la première « Münchner Hell »

La célèbre brasserie Spaten trouve également ses origines au Moyen Âge : fondée en 1397, elle a débuté dans la Neuhauser Gasse. La brasserie a ensuite déménagé dans la Marsstraße, aujourd'hui siège administratif. Tout comme Löwenbräu et Franziskaner, la brasserie Spaten appartient au groupe brassicole international AB InBev.
Spaten a lancé la « Münchner Hell » en 1894, qui est rapidement devenue un best-seller. L'ancien site de la brasserie abrite aujourd'hui un musée, et la bière est brassée dans l'ancienne brasserie de Löwenbräu AG.

The Munich Oktoberfest countdown is on: 36 days and almost 16 hours until the cry: "Let's go to the Wiesn 2025" and "Ozapft is!"

September 20th to October 5th - 190th Oktoberfest in Munich - There can only be one original Oktoberfest! (English version, Deutsch, Français, Italiano)

Munich. From September 20th to October 5th, the Bavarian capital invites the whole world to the Theresienwiese for the world's largest folk festival: the 190th Munich Oktoberfest. This year, Munich (as the locals affectionately call their city) will celebrate for 16 days. It all begins with the traditional tapping of the keg by Munich's mayor Dieter Reiter on September 20th, at exactly 12 noon - as always in the Schottenhamel Festhalle. The cry "Ozapft is!" means "It's tapped!" in good Bavarian. This announcement by Dieter Reiter is followed by twelve cannon shots, signaling the start of beer sales in all festival halls. Now the beer flows from the barrels of Munich's breweries. The mayor taps the first liter of beer for Bavarian Minister-President Dr. Markus Söder. This annual opening ceremony takes place every year at noon on the first Saturday after September 15th—this year, on Saturday, September 20th, 2025. But there's still a lot to do before then; anyone looking across the meadow can witness the creation of the Oktoberfest city of beer halls every day.

The festival grounds are located at the foot of the Bavaria statue.

The festival grounds on Munich's Theresienwiese cover an area of 42 hectares, almost the size of 60 football fields. And anyone who knows the Wiesn before the Oktoberfest build-up knows: grass really grows here! At least between the paved paths.

Munich has six major breweries: Augustiner, Hacker-Pschorr, Löwenbräu, Hofbräu, Paulaner, and Spaten  (English, Italiano, Francais, Deutsch)

Munich. In the heart of the city, a beer garden changes its beer style every five to six weeks: in the beer garden at the Viktualienmarkt, visitors can enjoy a different Munich beer every few weeks in the bar or in the beer garden. Incidentally, all six beers can also be enjoyed at the Munich Oktoberfest on the Theresienwiese, in the inns and beer gardens of the respective breweries, or in the breweries' traditional tents at the famous folk festivals. - Next big festival: From April 25th to May 11th, the Spring Festival (Frühlingsfest in München) will be held in Munich again. - Incidentally, in 2025, International Beer Day falls on August 1st!  Augustiner-Bräu, gladden your heart! - The Augustiner Brewery is Munich's oldest brewery

The brewery was founded in 1328, making it the oldest brewery still in existence in Munich. The Augustiner-Bräu always refrained from advertising and always used a bulbous bottle, while other breweries used the narrow NRW bottle for bottling. The Augustiner Brewery is located south of the railway tracks on Landsberger Straße at the Hackerbrücke. Anyone passing by will recognize the long brick wall.

But back to history: The monks of the Augustinian Order produced the first beer to enjoy popularity throughout Bavaria as early as 1328. The "Augustiner" was privatized in 1817. The Augustiner Hell still bears the bulbous Augustinian monk as a label.

The Hacker-Pschorr Brewery was founded in 1417, in the late Middle Ages.

Hacker-Pschorr beer was first documented in 1417. At that time, the brewery was already located on Sendlinger Straße, not far from the town hall (Old Town Hall - now the Toy Museum). Today, the "Altes Hackerhaus" restaurant is still located here.

From the 18th century onward, the Munich couple Joseph Pschorr and Maria Theresia Hacker led their company to the top of Munich's breweries. Through inheritance, the Hacker Brewery and Pschorr Brewery split, resulting in two beer brands. Since 1972, the brewery has been brewed again under the dual name "Hacker-Pschorr."

The former brewery site was located south of the Hacker Bridge. Hacker-Pschorr is now part of the Paulaner Beer Group. Hacker-Pschorr's 13 beers, some of which are brewed seasonally, are bottled exclusively in swing-top bottles.

Löwenbräu was founded behind the Frauenkirche in the Löwengrube (Lion's Den).

It was first brewed in the Middle Ages (late 14th century). The title "Löwenbräu" as a brand first appears in documents in 1746 (Munich Beer Brewery Catalogue). In the 19th century, the brewery, run by the Brey family, became the largest brewery in Munich. The Löwenbräu festival beer later originated on Nymphenburger Straße, where we can still find the Löwenbräukeller with its beer garden at Stiglmaierplatz. Incidentally, the famous Starkbierfest (strong beer festival) and the "Nacht der Tracht" (Night of Traditional Costume) are both popular events here.

Since 1997, the Spaten-Franziskaner-Löwenbräu Group has operated jointly under the Interbrew brewing group, now InBev.

The Hofbräu from the internationally renowned Hofbräuhaus am Platzl in Munich

The song "In Munich stands a Hofbräuhaus..." ( "In München steht ein Hofbräuhaus …") is world-famous and promotes the beer from the heart of the city. The beer has been brewed since 1589, when William V founded his ducal brewery. Since the 19th century, the brewery has been located on Innere Wiener Straße, where the spectacular, famous Hofbräukeller with its fabulous beer garden attracts visitors.

In 1939, Hofbräu passed into state ownership. The Staatliches Hofbräuhaus brewery in Munich is arguably the most well-known beer brand and was originally founded in the Alter Hof (Old Court). The famous Hofbräuhaus on Platzl, not far from the Viktualienmarkt, is now one of the city's most important tourist attractions. The brewery now operates just outside the city, near the exhibition center.

The Paulaner Brewery with the monk "Brother Barnabas"

The Paulaner Brewery was founded by monks in the Munich district of Au. It was in 1634 that the monks of the Paulaner Order brewed a beer that went down in history as the Paulaner Festbier and is still served at Oktoberfest today.

What was initially enjoyed only by monks soon flowed down the throats of Munich's beer lovers as Bock beer, made according to Brother Barnabas's old recipe. The Paulaner Brewery headquarters moved a few years ago (2016) from the famous Giesinger Nockherberg, known for the Starkbierfest (strong beer festival) with its famous "Derblecken" (poking fun at politicians), to Munich-Langwied.

The brewery's headquarters remain in the Au on Ohmüllerstraße, and above it is the Paulaner am Nockherberg, a popular beer garden and festival venue for the annual Starkbierfest (strong beer festival), with its keynote speech and musical comedy. The Paulaner Brewery is one of the sponsors of FC Bayern Munich.

Spatenbräu - The "Spaten" brand tapped the first "Münchner Hell"

The famous Spaten Brewery also originated in the Middle Ages: founded in 1397. It all began in Neuhauser Gasse. The brewery then moved to Marsstraße – today the administrative headquarters. Like Löwenbräu and Franziskaner, the Spaten Brewery belongs to the international beer group AB InBev.

Spaten launched "Münchner Hell" in 1894, which quickly became a best-seller. The former brewery site now houses a visitor museum, and the beer is brewed in the former brewhouse of Löwenbräu AG.

La brasserie Hacker-Pschorr a été fondée en 1417, à la fin du Moyen Âge

La bière Hacker-Pschorr est mentionnée pour la première fois dans des documents en 1417. À cette époque, la brasserie était déjà située sur Sendlinger Straße, non loin de l'hôtel de ville (ancien hôtel de ville - aujourd'hui musée du jouet). Aujourd'hui, le restaurant « Altes Hackerhaus » se trouve toujours ici.

À partir du XVIIIe siècle, le couple munichois Joseph Pschorr et Maria Theresia Hacker a mené leur entreprise au sommet des brasseries munichoises. Par héritage, la brasserie Hacker et la brasserie Pschorr se sont séparées et deux types de bière ont été créés. Depuis 1972, la bière est à nouveau brassée sous le double nom « Hacker-Pschorr ».

L'ancien site de la brasserie était situé au sud du Hackerbrücke. Hacker-Pschorr fait désormais partie du groupe Paulaner Barauerei. Les 13 bières de Hacker-Pschorr, dont certaines sont brassées uniquement de façon saisonnière, sont mises en bouteille exclusivement dans des bouteilles à bouchon mécanique.

La brasserie Löwenbräu a été fondée derrière la Frauenkirche dans la Löwengrube

Elle a été brassée pour la première fois au Moyen Âge (fin du XIVe siècle). Le titre « Löwenbräu » en tant que marque apparaît pour la première fois dans des documents en 1746 (Annuaire des brasseries de Munich). Au XIXe siècle, la brasserie familiale Brey devient la plus grande brasserie de Munich. La bière du festival Löwenbräu est venue plus tard de la Nymphenburger Straße, où l'on trouve encore aujourd'hui la Löwenbräukeller avec son biergarten sur la Stiglmaierplatz. D'ailleurs, le célèbre festival de la bière forte et la « Nuit du costume traditionnel » sont deux événements populaires ici.

Depuis 1997, le groupe Spaten-Franziskaner-Löwenbräu opère conjointement sous le groupe brassicole Interbrew, aujourd'hui InBev.

La Hofbräu de la Hofbräuhaus am Platzl de renommée internationale à Munich

La chanson « A Munich se trouve une Hofbräuhaus... » est mondialement connue et fait la promotion de la bière du cœur de la ville. La bière est brassée depuis 1589, année où Guillaume V fonda sa brasserie ducale. Depuis le 19e siècle, la brasserie est située sur la Innere Wiener Straße, où la spectaculaire et célèbre Hofbräukeller avec son fabuleux biergarten attire les visiteurs.

En 1939, la Hofbräu devient propriété de l'État. La brasserie Staatliches Hofbräuhaus de Munich est probablement la marque de bière la plus connue et a été fondée autrefois dans l'Alter Hof. La célèbre Hofbräuhaus am Platzl, non loin du Viktualienmarkt, est aujourd'hui l'un des sites touristiques les plus importants. La brasserie se trouve désormais juste à l'extérieur de la ville, près du parc des expositions.

La brasserie Paulaner avec le moine « Frère Barnabé »

La brasserie Paulaner a été fondée par des moines dans le quartier munichois d'Au. C'est en 1634 que les moines de l'ordre de Paulaner brassèrent une bière qui entra dans l'histoire sous le nom de Paulaner Festbier et qui est encore servie aujourd'hui à l'Oktoberfest.

Ce qui était initialement réservé aux moines est rapidement devenu une boisson populaire auprès des amateurs de bière munichois sous forme de bière Bock, fabriquée selon l'ancienne recette du frère Barnabas. Le siège de la brasserie Paulaner a déménagé il y a quelques années (2016) du célèbre Giesinger Nockherberg, connu pour la fête de la bière forte avec les célèbres politiciens-Derblecken (se moquant des politiciens), à Munich-Langwied.

La brasserie est toujours située à Au, dans la Ohmüllerstraße, et au-dessus se trouve le Paulaner am Nockherberg, un jardin à bière populaire et lieu du Starkbierfest annuel avec un discours d'ouverture et une comédie musicale. La brasserie Paulaner est l'un des sponsors du FC Bayern Munich.

Spatenbräu - La marque "Spaten" a exploité le premier "Münchner Hell"

La célèbre brasserie Spaten trouve également son origine au Moyen Âge : fondée en 1397, elle a commencé dans la Neuhauser Gasse. La brasserie a ensuite été déplacée à Marsstraße, aujourd'hui siège de l'administration. La brasserie Spaten, comme Löwenbräu et Franziskaner, appartient au groupe brassicole international AB InBev.

En 1894, Spaten lance « Münchner Hell », qui devient rapidement un best-seller. L'ancien site de la brasserie abrite aujourd'hui un musée des visiteurs et la bière est brassée dans l'ancienne brasserie de Löwenbräu AG.
