Munich Oktoberfest Countdown 2026: 5 days

Munich Oktoberfest Countdown 2026: 5 days

Oktoberfest Countdown: 5 days and 22 hours to go until the great Munich Oktoberfest 2026

The 191st Munich Oktoberfest kicks off on Saturday: it all begins with the traditional grand entry of the festival hosts and their beer barrels, followed by the tapping of the first keg by the Mayor of Munich

September 19 to October 4, 2026 – 191st Munich Oktoberfest (ITALIANO, ENGLISH, DEUTSCH, FRANÇAIS, NEDERLANDS)

Munich – Theresienwiese. On Saturday, September 19, the ceremonial procession of breweries and festival hosts begins, bringing Oktoberfest beer to the *Wiesn* (festival grounds) using traditional brewery horse teams. The festive parade of carriages—carrying the brewery owners—and decorated beer wagons starts at 10:35 a.m. on Josephspitalstraße and makes its way through Munich’s city center to the Theresienwiese. At exactly 12:00 noon, once Munich Mayor Dominik Krause has tapped the first beer keg, he loudly proclaims, "O’zapft is!" (It’s tapped!) and "Here’s to a peaceful *Wiesn*!" He hands the first *Maß* (liter mug of beer) to Bavarian Minister-President Dr. Markus Söder, while twelve ceremonial cannon shots fired at the foot of the Bavaria statue announce the start of the festival.
The festival beer is now flowing in all the tents, marking the start of the 191st Munich Oktoberfest. From the arts and culture blog: TIP: Only 5 days left until Oktoberfest 2026 – Oktoberfest camping in Munich – reserve your spot now!

Oktoberfest Meadow in Munich - Visit the "Oktoberfest Construction Site"

Visit the Oktoberfest construction site: Munich Tourism is offering 90-minute construction site tours of the Wiesn with official guides on weekends this year

190th Munich Oktoberfest under construction: 29 days until the beer is tapped - Munich visitors can take part in construction site tours of the Theresienwiese on weekends until September 7, 2025 (ITALIANO, FRANÇAIS, ENGLISH, DEUTSCH)

Munich. The festival of the state capital Munich. In 2025, the 190th Oktoberfest will take place from September 20 to October 5 on the Theresienwiese. The city's largest construction site is a huge, colorful precursor to the world's largest folk festival in Munich: the famous Munich Oktoberfest. - There used to be no construction site fences, and anyone could cross the Oktoberfest construction site - that was a long time ago! For anyone who wants to know how the Oktoberfest is slowly growing, Munich Tourism is offering 90-minute construction site tours of the Oktoberfest with official guides on weekends this year. This gives some exclusive access to the gates to the massive construction site and a glimpse into the massive beer halls of Munich's major breweries. Due to last year's high demand, significantly more tours are on the program this year.

190th Munich Oktoberfest 2025

190th Munich Oktoberfest - State Capital Munich

The Munich Oktoberfest countdown is on: 36 days and almost 16 hours until the cry: "Let's go to the Wiesn 2025" and "Ozapft is!"

September 20th to October 5th - 190th Oktoberfest in Munich - There can only be one original Oktoberfest! (English versionDeutschFrançaisItaliano)

Munich. From September 20th to October 5th, the Bavarian capital invites the whole world to the Theresienwiese for the world's largest folk festival: the 190th Munich Oktoberfest. This year, Munich (as the locals affectionately call their city) will celebrate for 16 days. It all begins with the traditional tapping of the keg by Munich's mayor Dieter Reiter on September 20th, at exactly 12 noon - as always in the Schottenhamel Festhalle. The cry "Ozapft is!" means "It's tapped!" in good Bavarian. This announcement by Dieter Reiter is followed by twelve cannon shots, signaling the start of beer sales in all festival halls. Now the beer flows from the barrels of Munich's breweries. The mayor taps the first liter of beer for Bavarian Minister-President Dr. Markus Söder. This annual opening ceremony takes place every year at noon on the first Saturday after September 15th—this year, on Saturday, September 20th, 2025. But there's still a lot to do before then; anyone looking across the meadow can witness the creation of the Oktoberfest city of beer halls every day.

The festival grounds are located at the foot of the Bavaria statue.

The festival grounds on Munich's Theresienwiese cover an area of 42 hectares, almost the size of 60 football fields. And anyone who knows the Wiesn before the Oktoberfest build-up knows: grass really grows here! At least between the paved paths.
