Munich Oktoberfest - Starts September 20, 2025

 190th Munich Oktoberfest - September 20th to October 5th, 2019

Oktoberfest countdown: Only 1 day and 20 hours left until the beer is tapped! Come on, everyone, then we'll be more!!! The first Oktoberfest weekend is just around the corner, and the atmosphere is shining brightly

Munich's Oktoberfest meadow today! A fantastic atmosphere in Munich, and less than 2 days until the world's largest Oktoberfest begins (English, Deutsch)

Munich. The Bavarian capital is in pure Oktoberfest anticipation. Many guests have already arrived and are dressing up in dirndls and lederhosen, visiting Munich's sights, from the English Garden to the Residenz palace and the Hellabrunn Zoo on the Isar River. People are already enjoying the weather today, sitting in the beer garden at the Viktualienmarkt or at the Chinese Tower in the English Garden. The sun is shining, and the people setting up the Oktoberfest on the vast Theresienwiese are doing their best. Here and there you can hear the Oktoberfest bands rehearsing in the tents, the rides are running trials, and the small Augustiner pub at the Theresienwiese subway station is already well attended.

The world will be gathering at Theresienwiese from Saturday, September 20th to October 5th, and we'll be there!

Life at the Wiesn is bustling. Bike racks, ATMs, left luggage storage, and no-parking signs are signaling the high time, as the parking ban in the security zone surrounding the Wiesn will soon begin. The day after tomorrow at 12 noon is the day when the world-famous Munich Oktoberfest begins. Entrances open at 9 a.m., and you should leave everything except your wallet and cell phone behind – large bags, backpacks, and the like are not permitted.

Oktoberfest Munich: The 2025 Setup

Oktoberfest countdown in Munich: 32 DAYS and 12 hours left until the 190th Munich Oktoberfest on the Theresienwiese

Once the beer tents are up, the rides will be on the Theresienwiese! What rides can Munich expect at the 190th Oktoberfest in 2025? A little insight!

Oktoberfest Munich and Old Wiesn from Saturday, September 20th at 12 p.m. – Sunday, October 5th, 2025 (Deutsch, Italiano, Français, Englisch)

Munich. The large festival tents of Munich's major breweries like Löwenbräu, Paulaner, and others, as well as the cafés like Bodo's, are almost all set up, and the Oktoberfest with its party-loving guests is almost tangible. Anyone cycling across the Oktoberfest meadow and past the "Oktoberfest construction site" will be amazed at the speed with which work is being carried out day after day. At the Augustiner  canteen near the Theresienwiese subway station, you can enjoy a beer and Bavarian delicacies – the canteen is open to everyone. Rooms at the Bayerischer Hof in the heart of Munich's Old Town and smaller hotels are constantly being booked, and Oktoberfest camping is also set to be a success this year. Next, the many rides will be shipped to Munich in individual parts.

We're looking forward to the Sky Lift with its four gondolas (it will be located at No. 5, Street 3 East).

The view from a height of 71 meters will be unforgettable for the guests of this ride, as the magnificent view over the Bavarian capital is unique. Another special feature here are the panoramic windows embedded in the floor of the cabins, allowing a view of the festival grounds directly below. Two gondolas will rotate at the top of the tower at any one time, and two will wait at the ground level. Each gondola can accommodate 20 people, and access to these gondolas is even barrier-free.

We're also looking forward to the Happy Sailor - a classic ride.

The Happy Sailor has an octagonal design with 20 rotating gondolas. Up to 40 people can ride on each ride. The rapid ups and downs will provide an almost maritime experience (the Happy Sailor will be set up at Schaustellerstraße 10).

The children's ride "The Montgolfiere" is a high-altitude carousel with a hot-air balloon design.

Here, too, children sit in gondolas that rise from a mast and reach a height of 8.5 meters. Each ride will feature a gentle up and down slope. The Montgolfiere will be set up at No. 18, Street 3.

The Ghost Cave at the Oidn Wiesn is a classic ghost train.

Just like in the old days, the whole family will scream and laugh here. Dating back to 1965, the ghost train offers a blend of horror and adventure. The delicate, elaborately designed scenery, with some frightening and scary effects, provides the expected thrills. This ghost cave will be set up at the Oidn Wiesn 13.

And then Oktoberfest 2025 wsill celebrate an anniversary: 100 years of the Russian Wheel.

The small Ferris wheel bears the name "Russian Wheel" – with its old concert organ made by Wilhelm Bruder from Waldkirch im Breisgau, it will be a regular at the Wiesn. It was 1925 when Josef Esterl commissioned the construction of a "Russian Swing." This small Ferris wheel always appears at Oktoberfest (and at the Auer Dult).

Ferris Wheel - Roller Coaster - Chain Fly

Those who want to go higher will, of course, also find the large Ferris wheel or the fantastic roller coaster and the popular chain fly (at Schaustellerstraße 44).

Christmas market tip for Munich: Winter world with Christmas market in the Motorworld in Munich-Freimann

Winterworld in front of the Motorworld Munich including ice skating rink, Ferris wheel, winter village and “Flying Santa Claus” - off to the Christmas market in Freimann

Munich-Freimann: Winterworld Motorworld from November 8th to December 29th, 2024 - Entry is free!

Munich.
If you're looking for a Christmas feeling and want to experience something different, you could find what you're looking for in the Winterworld on the outside area of the Munich Motorworld. Everything has been running smoothly there for a few days, as smoothly as the festively illuminated Ferris wheel. The Freimann district in Munich has this special Christmas market including a Christmas-decorated Motorworld until December 29, 2024. Magical moments in the Winterworld Motorworld - because Wednesday is Children's Day! This Christmas market is recommended for families with children, because not only the children's railway, but also the glitter and sparkle and Santa Claus on December 6th promise a lot of Advent fun. Mr. Nicholas himself comes to Winterworld and distributes his gifts to the little ones. There are also special children's days every Wednesday with child-friendly activities and surprises.

“Flying Santa Claus”

A highlight of Winterworld is the “Flying Santa Claus”, which floats over the guests in his reindeer sleigh at a height of 30 meters and a length of 120 meters.

Or you can book a complete package - ideal for Christmas parties for companies and clubs with a capacity of up to 250 people

There is a 16 x 4 meter ice skating rink with skate rental available on site. After an ice dance or a few throws at the curling rink, a ride on the Ferris wheel and a drink from the mulled wine pyramid, you can still stroll through the Christmas market. The Winter Village invites you to linger in the traditional Christmas spirit. There are six exclusively bookable, heated chalets with a fireplace, a fire tongs stand and a standing area with cribs and fire tables.

The typical Christmas catering can also be booked - the chalets, which can accommodate up to 10 people, can also be booked individually.

Colorful Christmas culinary diversity in the Winterworld Motorworld

The classic mulled wine, Feuerzangenbowle, eggnog, warm cocktails, hot chocolate or children's punch are always warming in winter weather. And for the palate there is also everything that the Christmas market should offer: fries, bratwurst, BBQ, spaetzle specialties, Schupfnudeln etc. For the “sweet ones” there are crepes, langos, roasted almonds, gingerbread and chocolate fruits. You will be spoiled at more than 20 Christmas market stalls.

The FERRIS WHEEL

Since this year, the WINTERWORLD in Munich has had a Ferris wheel (built in 2023). It rotates and lifts the shiny gondolas into the Munich winter sky and allows a view over the sparkling winter landscape of the Bavarian capital.
