Auer Dult! May Dult – The May Dult takes place from April 25 to May 3, 2026 (ENGLISH, ITALIANO, FRANÇAISDEUTSCH)

Munich. Every visitor to Munich should be familiar with this folk festival: it is Munich’s oldest festival—the traditional Auer Dult. It was held for the very first time in the year 1310. This delightful Munich folk festival runs until May 3. Every year, approximately 300 merchants, artists, artisans, food vendors, and showmen participate in this wonderful festival in Munich. In Munich, people enjoy the festivals as they come. Until May 3, 2026, this "mini-Wiesn" (mini-Oktoberfest) is once again taking place in the Au district. The Auer Dult is held three times a year! Everyone gathers at Mariahilfplatz (located in the Au district, situated to the east—or right—of the Isar River) to celebrate for exactly nine days. At the annual May Dult, visitors celebrate amidst specialty food stalls, in beer gardens, and alongside local artisans. Young and old alike will find refreshments, fun, and plenty of entertainment.

Family Fun for Everyone at the Auer Dult

Bumper cars, ring toss, ball toss, and children's carousels—as well as puppet shows featuring Kasperl and his friends—await visitors at the Auer Dult. The air is filled with scents reminiscent of Oktoberfest, inviting you to snack on cotton candy and roasted almonds.

Every year, the Auer Dult serves as the marketplace...

...for unique handcrafted items created by artisans such as carpet weavers, woodcarvers, and ceramists; however, visitors will also find antique books, Bavarian culinary delights, beer gardens, and carousels. The Auer Dult is a traditional fair held in Munich.

In total, the following festivals take place in the Au district throughout the year:

Maidult: April 25 – May 3, 2026

The Maidult (May Fair) takes place just before May 1st; the Jacobidult follows the Feast of St. James; and the Kirchweihdult (Church Consecration Fair) precedes the Kirchweih festival, which is always celebrated on the third Sunday of October.
