Dirigetevi verso la Torre Cinese all'alba: girare a sinistra, saltellare, girare a destra... al Kocherlball tutto ruota attorno alla gioia del movimento! Qui imparare i balli bavaresi è un gioco da ragazzi! (ENGLISH, DEUTSCH, ITALIANO, FRANÇAIS)

Monaco. Domenica a Monaco: tutto ha inizio presto, alle 6:00 del mattino. Il festival di danza "Kocherlball" vede tradizionalmente la partecipazione di persone che indossano *Dirndl*, *Lederhosen* e costumi storici del XIX secolo. La musica dal vivo risuona nel Biergarten della Torre Cinese – il palco è stato allestito il giorno prima – e le danze proseguono fino alle 10:00. Fino a quell'ora si susseguono musica, lezioni di ballo, lume di candela, spuntini sostanziosi (*Brotzeit*) e colazione all'aperto... I tavoli del Biergarten sono addobbati e tutt'intorno la gente balla il *Ländler*, lo *Zwiefacher*, la polka, il valzer e – cosa molto importante – la leggendaria *Française* di Monaco. Gli esperti di danza Katharina Mayer e Magnus Kaindl detteranno il ritmo dal palco; sul grande palcoscenico mostreranno passo dopo passo come eseguire *Boarischer*, *Ländler*, *Zwiefacher* e polka in un'atmosfera rilassata e allegra: venite a partecipare anche voi! Questo vale anche per chi non ha mai ballato in stile bavarese prima d'ora. Dopo il ballo, potrete gustare uno spuntino bavarese – come un involtino di carne di bue, una tazza di caffè e le famose *Schmalznudeln* o *Ausgezogene* (dolci fritti tradizionali) – mentre la banda suona alla Torre Cinese. Magari vorrete immergere per un attimo i piedi nel torrente Eisbach prima di dirigervi, a mezzogiorno, verso l'entusiasmante Festival del Giappone (situato dietro la Haus der Kunst), sempre all'interno del Giardino Inglese (leggete il nostro articolo a riguardo qui = Japanfest (hinter dem Haus der Kunst) im Englischen Garten ).

Nel XXI secolo, il Kocherlball è uno degli eventi più popolari di Monaco

– capace di attirare fino a 12.000 partecipanti grazie alla musica popolare bavarese e alla gioia pura di ballare all'aperto. E tutto questo in uno dei più bei *Biergarten* di Monaco, situato nel Giardino Inglese!

Da dove nasce la tradizione del Kocherlball?

La tradizione del Kocherlball nel Giardino Inglese è stata ripresa nel 1989.

In passato, il personale di servizio – ovvero i dipendenti domestici dell'alta società di Monaco – si ritrovava per ballare la domenica. Mentre i loro datori di lavoro erano a messa, sguattere, cuochi, bambinaie e giardinieri potevano rilassarsi e ballare durante il loro giorno libero. Tuttavia, questo evento danzante fu vietato nel 1904 a causa di una presunta "mancanza di decoro" e venne ripristinato solo nel 1989.

La musica dal vivo accompagna il Kocherlball fin dal 1880

Il personale di servizio si ritrovava al mattino presto, prima di iniziare il lavoro, per ballare. Si stima che oltre 8.000 tra domestici, soldati, cuochi e cameriere invadessero il Giardino Inglese, socializzando e conoscendosi proprio ballando.


All'epoca, si ritenne che ciò favorisse una certa "mancanza di decoro"...


...e così, nel 1904, il tradizionale ballo della servitù venne vietato.


L'evento è stato ripristinato nel 1989, in occasione delle celebrazioni per il bicentenario del Giardino Inglese, e da allora si svolge ogni anno in una domenica di luglio.

Rendez-vous à la Tour chinoise au lever du soleil : tournez à gauche, sautez, tournez à droite... Au Kocherlball, tout est une question de plaisir du mouvement ! Ici, la danse bavaroise devient un jeu d'enfant ! (ENGLISH, DEUTSCH, ITALIANO, FRANÇAIS)

Munich. Un dimanche à Munich : tout commence tôt, dès 6 h du matin. Le festival de danse « Kocherlball » réunit traditionnellement des participants vêtus de *Dirndls*, de *Lederhosen* et de costumes historiques du XIXe siècle. De la musique live résonne dans le Biergarten de la Tour chinoise — la scène a été installée la veille — et la danse se poursuit jusqu'à 10 h. Jusqu'à cette heure-là, place à la musique, aux initiations à la danse, aux bougies, aux en-cas copieux (*Brotzeit*) et au petit-déjeuner en plein air... Les tables du Biergarten sont décorées et, tout autour, on danse le *Ländler*, le *Zwiefacher*, la polka, la valse et — point très important — la légendaire *Française* de Munich. Les spécialistes de la danse Katharina Mayer et Magnus Kaindl donneront le rythme depuis la scène ; ils y montreront pas à pas comment maîtriser le *Boarischer*, le *Ländler*, le *Zwiefacher* et la polka dans une ambiance détendue et joyeuse. Alors, rejoignez-nous ! Cela vaut même pour ceux qui n'ont jamais dansé à la mode bavaroise auparavant. Ensuite, vous pourrez déguster une collation bavaroise — comme un roulé de bœuf, un café et les célèbres *Schmalznudeln* ou *Ausgezogene* (des pâtisseries frites traditionnelles) — tout en écoutant l'orchestre jouer près de la Tour chinoise. Au XXIe siècle, le Kocherlball est l'un des événements les plus populaires de Munich

– attirant jusqu'à 12 000 participants grâce à la musique folklorique bavaroise et au pur plaisir de danser en plein air. Et tout cela dans l'un des plus beaux biergartens de Munich, au cœur du Jardin anglais !

D'où vient la tradition du Kocherlball ?

L'histoire du Kocherlball dans le Jardin anglais a été relancée en 1989.

Autrefois, le personnel de maison — les employés au service de la haute société munichoise — se réunissait pour des bals le dimanche. Pendant que leurs employeurs étaient à l'église, les aides de cuisine, cuisiniers, nourrices et jardiniers pouvaient se détendre et danser durant leur jour de congé. Toutefois, cet événement dansant fut interdit en 1904 en raison d'un « manque de bienséance » perçu, et ne fut rétabli qu'en 1989.

La musique live fait partie intégrante du Kocherlball depuis 1880

Le personnel de maison s'y retrouvait tôt le matin, avant de commencer sa journée de travail, pour danser. On estime que plus de 8 000 domestiques, soldats, cuisiniers et femmes de chambre affluaient alors dans le Jardin anglais, faisant connaissance tout en dansant.

Sunday in Munich: It all kicks off early on Sunday morning at 6:00 a.m. The "Kocherlball" dance festival is traditionally celebrated by participants wearing *Dirndls*, *Lederhosen*, and historical costumes from the 19th century. Live music plays at the Chinese Tower beer garden—the stage was set up yesterday—and the dancing continues until 10:00 a.m. Until 10:00 a.m., there is music, dance instruction, candlelight, hearty snacks (*Brotzeit*), and breakfast under the open sky... The beer garden tables are decorated, and all around, people dance the *Landler*, *Zwiefacher*, polka, waltz, and—very importantly—the legendary Munich *Française*. Dance experts Katharina Mayer and Magnus Kaindl will set the rhythm from the stage; on the large stage, they will demonstrate step-by-step how to master the *Boarischer*, *Landler*, *Zwiefacher*, and polka in a relaxed atmosphere full of good cheer—so come join in! This applies even to those who have never danced Bavarian-style before. In the 21st century, the Kocherlball is one of Munich’s most popular events

– attracting up to 12,000 guests with Bavarian folk music and the pure joy of dancing under the open sky. And all this at one of Munich’s most beautiful beer gardens in the English Garden!

Where does the Kocherlball tradition come from?

The history of the Kocherlball in the English Garden was revived in 1989.

In the past, domestic staff—the household employees of Munich’s upper class—would meet for Sunday dances. While their employers were at church, kitchen maids, cooks, nannies, and gardeners could relax and dance on their day off. However, this dancing event was banned in 1904 due to a perceived "lack of propriety" and was not revived until 1989.

Live music has been part of the Kocherlball since as early as 1880

Domestic staff would meet early in the morning before starting work to dance. Estimates suggest that upwards of 8,000 servants, soldiers, cooks, and maids would flood the English Garden, getting to know one another while dancing.


At the time, someone decided that this fostered a "lack of propriety"...


...and so, the traditional servants' ball was banned in 1904.


The ball was revived in 1989 during the English Garden's 200th-anniversary celebrations and has taken place annually on a Sunday in July ever since.

München tanzt am Sonntag, den 19. Juli 2026 von 06:00 bis 10:00 Uhr am Chinesischen Turm im Englischen Garten beim traditionellen "Kocherlball"

Bei Sonnenaufgang auf zum Chinesischen Turm - Linksrum, hüpfen, rechtsrum - es dreht sich alles beim Kocherlball-Glück! Bairisch Tanzen wird hier leicht gemacht! (ENGLISH, DEUTSCH, ITALIANO, FRANÇAIS)

München. Sonntag in München: Sonntag in der Früh um 6 Uhr geht es los: das Tanzfest "Kocherlball" wird traditionell in Dirndl und Lederhosen sowie in historischen Kostümen aus der Zeit des 19. Jahrhunderts begangen. Am Chinesischen Turm im Biergarten spielte die Musi auf - die Bühne wurde gestern schon aufgebaut - und dann wird bis um 10 Uhr getanzt. Bis 10 Uhr gibt es Musik, Tanzanleitung, Kerzenschein, Brotzeit und Frühstück unter freiem Himmel ...  Die Biergartentische sind geschmückt und rundherum tanzt man oan Landler, oan Zwiefacher, oane Polka, oan Walzer und ganz wichtig die legendäre Münchner Francaise. Die Tanzmeisterschaft Katharina Mayer und Magnus Kaindl werden den Takt von der Bühne aus angeben: auf der großen Bühne wird Schritt für Schritt gezeigt wie  Boarischer, Landler, Zwiefacher und Polka ganz entspannt und mit viel guter Laune gelingen – also mitmachen! Das gilt auch für jene, die noch nie bairisch getanzt haben. Danach dürften die bayerische Brotzeit mit Ochsensemmerl, oan Hafferl Kaffee und den beliebten Schmalznudeln oder Ausgezogenen munden. Denn danach spielt die Musi vom Chinesischen Turm. Kurz die Füße in den Eisbach halten und um 12 Uhr geht es dann zum jährlichen spannenden Japanfest (hinter dem Haus der Kunst) im Englischen Garten (unser Beitrag hierzu unter diesem Link).

Wo kommt die Tradition des Kocherlbals her? 

Die Geschichte des Kocherlball im Englischen Garten wurde 1989 wieder aufgenommen

Früher trafen sich die Bediensteten, sprich das Hauspersonal der feinen Münchner zu ihren Sonntagsbällen, denn während die Herrschaften in der Kirche waren, dann konnten Küchenmaderl, Köchinnen, Kindermädchen und Gärtner am Sonntag beim Tanz entspannen. Aus "fehlender SITTLICHKEIT" wurde dieses Tanzvergnügen im Jahr 1904 jedoch verboten und erst im Jahr 1989 wieder gestartet.

Einmal im Jahr - im Juli - trifft man sich zum legendären Kocherlball am Chinesischen Turm im Englischen Garten und beginnt in der Früh ab 6 Uhr bayerische Volkstänze zu tanzen - natürlich bei freiem Eintritt. Die Biergartentische sind geschmückt und rundherum tanzt man oan Landler, oan Zwiefacher, oane Polka, oan Walzer und ganz wichtig die legendäre Münchner Francaise. Ein Tanzmeister ist da und sorgt dafür, das alle mitmachen können.

Live-Musik beim Kocherlball gab es schon um 1880

In der Früh trafen sich die Bediensteten vor Arbeitsbeginn und tanzten. Man spricht teils über 8000 Dienstboten, Soldaten, Köchen und Diesntmädchen, die den Englischen Garten fluteten und sich beim Tanzbein schwingen kennenlernten. 

 

Irgendjemand fand damals, dass hier "mangelnde Sittlichkeit" herrsche

... und so wurde der traditionelle Ball der Diesntboten im Jahr 1904 verboten.

Erst 1989 wurde der Ball bei der 200-Jahr-Feier des Englischen Gartens wieder aufgenommen und findet seitdem  jährlich an einem Sonntag im Juli statt.

La Vague d'Eisbach rafraîchit les spectateurs, le Monopterus offre une vue panoramique et, à la Tour chinoise, vous pourrez déguster une bière fraîche au son de la musique bavaroise

Du centre-ville de Munich, de l'Odeonsplatz ou de l'université, vous pouvez vous retrouver en pleine nature en quelques minutes seulement, dans l'un des plus grands parcs urbains du monde : le Jardin anglais (Deutsch, Italiano, English, Francais)

Munich. L'été en ville, c'est de pures vacances, et quiconque vit à Munich est, en bref, en vacances dans cette métropole mondialement connue. Faire du vélo, se détendre et profiter ! Si vous ne connaissez pas le Jardin anglais, vous ne connaissez pas Munich ! Et 5 millions de visiteurs chaque année prouvent que ce parc, plus grand que Central Park à New York, est un véritable paradis. Les étudiants de l'Université Ludwig Maximilian (LMU) peuvent se détendre sur la pelouse du Jardin anglais en cinq minutes, manger une glace, lire des livres et étudier – ou quelque chose du genre… Moi aussi, je me souviens avec tendresse de cette époque ; depuis la bibliothèque universitaire ou la bibliothèque d'État, on pouvait rapidement se rendre à la campagne.

 Munich regorge de sites célèbres à voir absolument !

… parmi eux, le Jardin anglais, véritable poumon vert de la métropole munichoise et le plus beau parc d'attractions de la ville. On peut y bronzer, se rafraîchir dans la rivière, profiter d'une plage naturiste et, surtout, se laisser tenter par les vagues vivifiantes des surfeurs.

Le Jardin anglais est un lieu idéal pour passer du temps libre, surtout en été.

À pied ou à vélo (sur des sentiers balisés), vous pourrez profiter pleinement de l'atmosphère de la campagne anglaise. Le parc a été aménagé directement le long de l'Isar, qui serpente le long de ses méandres.

Le Jardin anglais est l'un des plus grands parcs urbains au monde

Sur une colline offrant une vue magnifique sur la Frauenkirche se dresse le célèbre Monopteros, non loin duquel se trouve la Tour chinoise et son magnifique biergarten. L'orchestre jouant dans la pagode crée une atmosphère bavaroise.

Tour chinoise

La Tour chinoise, probablement la plus célèbre structure en bois du Jardin anglais, et son vaste biergarten sont très appréciés des visiteurs de Munich du monde entier. En été, la pagode, construite dans le style impérial chinois, et la fanfare qui y joue sont très accueillantes. Elle culmine à 25 mètres de haut et a été conçue en 1789.

Ce bâtiment a connu une telle popularité au cours de l'histoire qu'il a souvent dû être reconstruit à l'identique, après avoir été détruit par les incendies à plusieurs reprises.

Dans ce vaste parc, piétons et cyclistes trouvent un chemin relaxant et ombragé.

Le Jardin anglais offre un espace généreux en plein centre-ville. Et depuis le Monopterus, un temple rond de 16 mètres de haut de style grec, vous profiterez d'une vue panoramique fantastique !

Le Jardin anglais, avec son Monopterus, sa Tour chinoise, son salon de thé japonais et bien plus encore, est un incontournable de Munich.

Le Monopterus, un petit temple rond de style grec, captive chaque visiteur par sa vue sur la vieille ville. Situé sur une colline, ce temple circulaire a été érigé en 1836 dans la partie sud du parc.

I, too, fondly remember those days; from the university library or the state library, you could quickly get to the countryside.

There are many famous sights in Munich that you absolutely MUST see!

... among them is the English Garden, the green lung of the metropolis of Munich, and the city's most beautiful amusement park. Here you can sunbathe, there you can cool off in the river, there's even a nude beach, and above all, surfers can enjoy the refreshing ride of a big wave.

The English Garden is a great place to spend your free time, especially in summer.

On foot or by bike (on marked paths), you can enjoy the English countryside atmosphere without end. The park was laid out directly along the Isar River, which meanders along it.

The English Garden is one of the largest inner-city parks in the world

On a hill with a magnificent view towards the Frauenkirche stands the famous Monopteros, not far from which is the Chinese Tower with its beautiful beer garden. The band playing in the pagoda creates a Bavarian atmosphere.

Chinese Tower

The Chinese Tower, probably the most famous wooden structure in the English Garden, and its expansive beer garden, are popular with all visitors to Munich worldwide. In summer, the pagoda, built in the imperial Chinese style, and the brass band playing from it are very inviting. It rises 25 meters high and was designed in 1789.

This structure has been so popular throughout history that it often had to be faithfully rebuilt, as it burned down several times.

In this expansive park, pedestrians and cyclists find a relaxing and shady path.

The English Garden offers plenty of space for this within the city center. And from the Monopterus, a 16-meter-high round temple in the Greek style, you have a fantastic panoramic view!

The English Garden, with its Monopteros, Chinese Tower, Japanese Tea House, and more, is an absolute MUST-SEE when visiting Munich.

The Monopteros

The Greek-style Monopteros, a small round temple, captivates every visitor with its view of the Old Town skyline. Situated on a hill, the temple-like circular structure was erected in 1836 in the southern part of the park.

You can stroll, jog, and cycle along the 78-kilometer trail!
