Munich.
Every year, Franconian wine becomes a summer highlight in Munich when the Franconian Wine Festival is celebrated at the Alter Hof—Munich’s imperial castle (the link leads to our article about the Emperor's castle in Munich =  Alten Hof, der Münchner Kaiserburg (der Link führt zu unserem Beitrag über die Burg des Kaisers in München) ). Now the balmy evenings have arrived, inviting people to linger and celebrate. Lovers of fine wines gather in Munich’s Old Town to enjoy the offerings of winemakers who travel here specifically for this event. Munich’s city center is always worth a visit, and for three weeks, alongside the many beer gardens and restaurants, there is now a special destination for wine enthusiasts and connoisseurs. Fine wines from Franconia are served in the historic courtyard of an old palace. Opening hours: Monday – Wednesday: 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM and Thursday – Sunday: 1:00 PM – 10:00 PM

For nearly three weeks—from July 30 to August 16, 2026—the venerable inner courtyard transforms into an oasis of wine and culinary delight.

Visitors can relax on comfortable benches or find a shady spot at high tables. There is more to enjoy than just Silvaner, Riesling, or sparkling wine; guests also have the opportunity to sample Franconian specialties.

The following 14 renowned Franconian wineries—widely acclaimed for their quality wines—invite you to taste fine vintages, chat with experts, and explore new flavors:

Winzer Sommerach, Weingut Kreglinger, Weingut Hemberger, Weingut Regie, Weingut Rothe, GWF, Juliusspital, Weingut Max Müller, Lukas Schmidt, Weingut Menz, Weingut Wirsching, Korbus Wine, Fürstlich Castell'sches Domänenamt, and Weingut Pastoriushaus.

Culinary specialties will delight the palate alongside the extensive wine selection. A continuous live music program complements the summer days and evenings at the Alter Hof.
