Dal 14 al 24 maggio 2026, il festival artistico "Various Others" vi invita a vivere 10 fantastiche giornate all'insegna dell'arte contemporanea – sia internazionale che locale – con numerose mostre ospitate da gallerie, istituzioni, musei e spazi d'arte dislocati in tutta la città. Various Others – Un concetto brillante per 40 gallerie, musei e spazi d'arte

La Pinakothek der Moderne, il Museum Brandhorst, la Haus der Kunst, la Lenbachhaus, la Sammlung Goetz, il Lothringer 13 e molte altre sedi in tutta Monaco presentano l'arte contemporanea. Durante *Various Others*, in programma dal 14 al 24 maggio 2026, i visitatori potranno farsi un quadro completo dell'attuale scena artistica contemporanea internazionale.

Giunto alla sua settima edizione, l'evento artistico *VARIOUS oTheRS* si è ormai affermato stabilmente a Monaco, promuovendo un dialogo tra la scena artistica locale e il più vasto mondo dell'arte internazionale.


40 gallerie, musei e spazi d'arte presenteranno un programma che vedrà protagonisti sia le stelle affermate che i nuovi talenti della scena artistica internazionale.

La Pinakothek der Moderne, le Museum Brandhorst, la Haus der Kunst, la Lenbachhaus, la Sammlung Goetz, le Lothringer 13 et de nombreux autres lieux à travers Munich présentent de l'art contemporain. Durant *Various Others*, qui se déroulera du 14 au 24 mai 2026, les visiteurs pourront se faire une vue d'ensemble complète de la création contemporaine internationale actuelle.

Tipp: Besuch der Pinakothek in der Kunststadt München

 München - Der Ruf als Kunststadt und Isar-Athen wurde von Ludwig I. begründet

 

Ludwig I. erträumte sein „Isar-Athen” und legte den Grundstein für "München als Kunststadt" in Deutschland - 700 Gemälde erzählen in der Alten Pinakothek von 400 Jahren Kunstgeschichte ... 

 

Am 7. April 1826 vor 200 Jahren wurde in München der Grundstein der Alten Pinakothek gelegt - sie sollte die Wittelsbacher Gemäldesammlungen ausstellen

MÜNCHEN. König Ludwig I. legte erbaute sein Isar-Athen, das bis heute im Kunstareal Besucherinnen und Besucher aus aller Welt anzieht. München ist bei einem Deutschlandbesuch ein Muß für die internationalen Gäste. Am 7. April 1826, vor genau 200 Jahren, wurde der Grundstein für eines der bedeutendsten Museumsgebäude Europas gelegt: die Alte Pinakothek. Der 7. April war bewusst gewählt worden, handelte es sich doch um den Geburtstag des Malers Raffael (Raffaello Santi), „dessen Genius die höchste Vollkommenheit in der Malerey erreicht hat“, wie es in der begleitenden Rede hieß. Mit diesem historischen Moment im Jahr 1826 konkretisierte sich die Vision von König Ludwig I., der München zu einem Zentrum der Kunst und Kultur von internationalem Rang entwickeln wollte: „Ich will aus München eine Stadt machen, die Teutschland so zur Ehre gereichen soll, dass keiner Teutschland kennt, wenn er nicht München gesehen hat.", indem er in der Nachbarschaft der 1816 gegründeten Glyptothek als Museum für antike Skulpturen eine Pinakothek für die Meisterwerke aus den Wittelsbacher Gemäldesammlungen errichten ließ.

Ludwig I. erträumte sein „Isar-Athen” und legte den Grundstein für "München als Kunststadt" in Deutschland

Ursprünglich nicht zuletzt aus Brandschutzgründen vor den Toren der Stadt München in Zusammenspiel mit dem Königsplatz als Teil eines von Ludwig I. erträumten „Isar-Athens” geplant, bildet der Backsteinbau der Alten Pinakothek heute das Herzstück des Kunstareals. Für seine Sammlung an zeitgenössischer Kunst ließ Ludwig I. 1853 in direkter Nachbarschaft die „Neue“ Pinakothek errichten und schuf mit dieser Konzentration hochrangiger Sammlungs- und Ausstellungsgebäude – die nach Art eines korinthischen Tempels errichtete, heutige Antikensammlung wurde ab 1838 gebaut – die Voraussetzungen für ein Museumsviertel, das der Bildung der Bevölkerung dienen sollte, aber auch Münchens weltweiten Ruf als Kunststadt begründete.

Bis heute gilt die von dem bedeutenden Architekten Leo von Klenze im Stil der Neo-Renaissance entworfene Alte Pinakothek als Meilenstein der Museumsarchitektur

 Bereits bei ihrer Eröffnung im Jahr 1836 setzte sie neue, wegweisende Maßstäbe: Erstmals wurde ein Museumsgebäude mit Oberlichtsälen entworfen, das im Museumsbau international zum Vorbild wurde: Klenze konzipierte verglaste Dachaufbauten, die Dachlaternen, durch die das Tageslicht in großzügig bemessene Säle fiel. Sie waren für die weltberühmten Meisterwerke bestimmt, die durch die Sammelleidenschaft der Wittelsbacher über die Jahrhunderte zusammengetragen worden waren. Ergänzt wurden sie durch Kabinette auf der Nordseite. 

So entstand ausreichend Raum für rund 700 Werke, anhand derer das Publikum bis heute 400 Jahre Geschichte der europäischen Malerei vom Mittelalter bis zum ausgehenden Rokoko erleben kann. Als Maßstab für die Proportion der Säle diente das über sechs Meter hohe „Große Jüngste Gericht” von Peter Paul Rubens. Es hängt bis heute unverändert im Rubenssaal, als Teil einer der weltgrößten Rubenssammlungen, die zusammen mit den Werken der Altdeutschen Malerei zu den Höhepunkten der Bayerischen Staatsgemäldesammlungen gehört. 

Nach starker Beschädigung in den Jahren 1943 und 1944 wurde der Wiederaufbau durch den Architekten Hans Döllgast von 1952 bis 1957 durchgeführt

 Hans Döllgast kämpfte für den Erhalt der Kriegsruine und legte Planungen zu einer Wiederherstellung vor, die durch die Wahl andersfarbiger Ziegel und vereinfachter Formen die Zerstörungen sichtbar ließ. 1953 gründeten Münchner Bürgerinnen und Bürger einen Verein, um den Wiederaufbau mit privaten Mitteln zu fördern. Bis heute zählt der Pinakotheks-Verein zu den maßgeblichen Unterstützern der Alten und seit 1979 auch der Neuen Pinakothek.

Döllgast verlegte den Haupteingang an die Nordseite und schuf eine großzügige Eingangshalle

Die einst mit Wandmalereien gestalteten Loggien an der Südseite ersetzte er durch eine monumentale Treppenanlage, die heute als beliebte Bühne und Motiv-Hintergrund für Fotoshootings und Selfies dient. Das ehemalige Vestibül und das Haupttreppenhaus auf der Ostseite wurden aufgegeben und zu Ausstellungssälen transformiert. Insgesamt blieb die Gebäudestruktur jedoch erhalten. Den markantesten Eingriff stellt neben dem Einbau der Treppenanlage die Überformung der Südseite dar, wo heute schlanke Stahlsäulen und schlichtes Mauerwerk statt Ornamenten die Kriegsschäden sichtbar machen. 

Diese Art des Wiederaufbaus, bei dem die Außenmauern mit unverputzten Trümmerziegeln so ergänzt wurden, dass die Bombenschäden als „Verletzung“ des Klenze­Baus erkennbar blieben, macht die Alte Pinakothek zu einem eindrucksvollen architektonischen Zeugnis der Erinnerung und zu einem Beispiel des Bauens unter demokratischen Vorzeichen in der noch jungen Bundesrepublik. Damit wirkt sie bis heute als Mahnmal, auch für die kommenden Generationen.

Die Sammlung der Alten Pinakothek zählt zu den bedeutendsten der Welt

Sie umfasst Meisterwerke europäischer Malerei vom 14. bis zum 18. Jahrhundert, darunter Werke von Albrecht Dürer, Lucas Cranach d. Ä., Leonardo da Vinci, Raffael, Peter Paul Rubens, Anthonis van Dyck, Rembrandt, Murillo und François Boucher. Mit beinahe einer halben Million Besuchenden im Jahr 2025 gehört die Alte Pinakothek zu den meistbesuchten Häusern im Kunstareal und steht als „Must See“ auf beinahe jeder Liste der Tourist:innen in München.

Das 200-jährige Jubiläum der Grundsteinlegung ist nicht nur Anlass zur Rückschau, sondern auch zur Würdigung der nachhaltigen kulturellen Bedeutung dieses Hauses

Die Alte Pinakothek steht bis heute für die Verbindung von architektonischer Innovation und künstlerischem Erbe – und bleibt vor den Originalen wie digital ein lebendiger Ort der Begegnung mit der Kunst.

Munich. Le cloud numérique est omniprésent : mais où se trouve-t-il exactement ? Dans l'exposition « LA VILLE DANS LE CLOUD - LES DONNÉES SUR LE TERRAIN », la Pinacothèque de l'Art Moderne part à sa recherche. Le cloud est présent dans les smartphones, les ordinateurs portables, les appareils domestiques intelligents, les interfaces automobiles et d'innombrables écrans dans les espaces urbains. Le swipe et le streaming abritent une infrastructure de données vaste et en pleine expansion : centres de données dans les villes et les régions reculées, câbles sous-marins et satellites. Ces structures, pour la plupart invisibles, façonnent notre mode de vie, nos communications et notre administration, tout en consommant d'énormes quantités de terres, d'énergie et de matières premières.

Malgré leur impact considérable, les infrastructures de données sont rarement abordées d'un point de vue architectural ou politique

La recherche architecturale peut révéler ces liens cachés, matériels et politiques. L'objectif de l'exposition est d'examiner le cloud, de ses origines historiques à ses perspectives d'avenir, et de plaider pour une approche plus intégrée de la conception et de la planification des infrastructures de données à la conscience sociale et politique.

L'exposition est divisée en trois thèmes :

Élémentaire - Spatial - Temporel,

et s'articule autour d'une série de questions clés :

En quoi consiste le cloud numérique ?

Le premier chapitre révèle les composantes du cloud. Nous scrutons les profondeurs de l'océan et suivons les câbles sous-marins qui transmettent aujourd'hui plus de 95 % des communications mondiales. De la pose du premier câble télégraphique transatlantique au XIXe siècle aux réseaux mondiaux de fibre optique d'aujourd'hui, ces infrastructures révèlent des imbroglios géopolitiques et coloniaux. Des objets du Deutsches Museum illustrent ces histoires d'un point de vue scientifique et matériel.

Ce chapitre aborde également les centres de données, qui se transforment en nouveaux lieux de pouvoir. Loin d'être des espaces neutres, ils consomment d'énormes quantités d'énergie et d'eau douce et occupent des surfaces de plus en plus vastes. Avec la croissance exponentielle de l'intelligence artificielle (IA), la demande de nouvelles installations augmente rapidement. L'exposition met en lumière leur présence architecturale, leurs dimensions politiques et leurs coûts écologiques, à travers des études de cas allemandes et internationales, notamment le Centre de supercalcul Leibniz de Munich à Garching.

Données numériques : la nouvelle monnaie ?

Les données sont devenues le moteur de nouvelles formes d’extraction. L’expansion de ces économies dépend de matières premières essentielles telles que le lithium, le cuivre, le cobalt et l’étain. Ce chapitre examine plus particulièrement l’extraction du lithium et de l’étain, en se concentrant sur les impacts de cette extraction sur les écosystèmes et les communautés locales.

L'exposition aborde la lutte pour les droits d'eau dans l'une des plus grandes mines de lithium du désert d'Atacama au Chili, ainsi que les coûts écologiques et sociaux de l'extraction d'étain sur l'île indonésienne de Bangka. Elle examine également les efforts déployés pour sécuriser le lithium et d'autres matières premières essentielles en Europe. En retraçant ces flux de matières, l'exposition aborde le véritable prix à payer pour l'économie des données.

La ville est-elle plus qu'un ordinateur ?

La ville dite intelligente utilise les données pour « optimiser » et « gérer » la complexité. Cette section examine comment les environnements urbains sont transformés par les systèmes numériques et pose la question : et si les données étaient utilisées pour donner plus de pouvoir aux citoyens plutôt que pour servir un capitalisme de surveillance ? Une étude de cas réalisée en collaboration avec Digital Twin Munich présente les données comme une infrastructure publique et un outil d'engagement civique.

De plus, l'exposition explore la transformation de la pratique architecturale grâce à la modélisation des données, à l'apprentissage automatique et à l'IA, ouvrant ainsi de nouveaux débats sur la manière dont les données peuvent transformer la conception, la construction et la démolition des bâtiments.

Enregistrer ou supprimer des données ?

Face à la demande croissante d'électricité, d'eau et aux énormes quantités de déchets électroniques, la décision de conserver et de supprimer des données est devenue un acte politique. À l'ère des pratiques de sauvegarde et de stockage excessives, la question de savoir quelles données conserver et dans quelles conditions est plus urgente que jamais. Les archives numériques jouent un rôle crucial dans la constitution des archives historiques, tandis que l'apprentissage de l'IA soulève de nouvelles questions sur les biais, l'accès et la mémoire. 

• Pouvons-nous distinguer le bruit de fond des informations précieuses dans cette vaste mer de données ? 
• Et pouvons-nous gérer éthiquement les « boîtes noires » et les biais liés aux données ?

Ce chapitre invite à réfléchir à l'influence des infrastructures de données sur notre mémoire et notre oubli, et au lien entre le travail architectural et les systèmes numériques. Il s'interroge sur la manière dont nous pourrions gérer les données à l'avenir, nous séparer de ce qui n'est plus nécessaire et concevoir au-delà de la logique des capacités de stockage illimitées.

Monaco di Baviera. Il cloud digitale è onnipresente: ma dove si trova esattamente? Nella mostra CITY IN THE CLOUD - DATA ON THE GROUND, la Pinakothek der Moderne va alla ricerca. Il cloud è presente in smartphone, laptop, dispositivi per la smart home, interfacce per auto e innumerevoli display negli spazi urbani. Swipe e streaming contengono un'infrastruttura dati vasta e in rapida crescita: data center in città e regioni remote, cavi sottomarini e satelliti. In cosa consiste il cloud digitale?

Il primo capitolo svela gli elementi del cloud. Scrutiamo nelle profondità dell'oceano e seguiamo i cavi sottomarini che oggi trasmettono oltre il 95% delle comunicazioni globali. Dalla posa del primo cavo telegrafico transatlantico nel XIX secolo alle odierne reti globali in fibra ottica, queste infrastrutture rivelano intrecci geopolitici e coloniali. Munich. The digital cloud is omnipresent: but where exactly is it? In the exhibition CITY IN THE CLOUD - DATA ON THE GROUND, the Pinakothek der Moderne goes on a search. The cloud appears in smartphones, laptops, smart home devices, car interfaces, and countless displays in urban spaces. Swipe and stream contain a vast and rapidly growing data infrastructure: data centers in cities and remote regions, submarine cables, and satellites. These mostly invisible structures determine our way of life, communication, and administration – while simultaneously consuming enormous amounts of land, energy, and raw materials. - A companion book will be published for the exhibition -

Despite their far-reaching impact, data infrastructures are rarely discussed from an architectural or political perspective.

Architectural research can reveal these hidden material and political entanglements. The aim of the exhibition is to examine the cloud—from its historical origins to future possibilities—and to advocate for a more integrative approach to the design and planning of data infrastructures into social and political consciousness.

The exhibition is divided into three themes:

Elementary - Spatial - Temporal,

and unfolds around a series of key questions:

What does the digital cloud consist of?

The first chapter reveals the elements of the cloud. We peer deep into the ocean and trace the submarine cables that now transmit more than 95% of global communications. From the laying of the first transatlantic telegraph cable in the 19th century to today's global fiber optic networks, these infrastructures reveal geopolitical and colonial entanglements. Objects from the Deutsches Museum illustrate these histories from scientific and material perspectives.

The chapter also addresses data centers, which are evolving into new sites of power. Far from being neutral spaces, they consume enormous amounts of energy and fresh water and occupy increasingly larger areas. With the exponential growth of artificial intelligence (AI), the demand for new facilities is rising rapidly. The exhibition highlights their architectural presence, their political dimensions, and their ecological costs, with case studies from Germany and abroad, including the Munich Leibniz Supercomputing Center in Garching.

Digital Data – The New Currency?

Data has become the engine of new forms of extraction. The expansion of data economies depends on critical raw materials such as lithium, copper, cobalt, and tin. This chapter examines lithium and tin mining in particular, focusing on the impacts of this raw material extraction on local ecosystems and communities.

It addresses the battle for water rights in one of the largest lithium mines in Chile's Atacama Desert, as well as the ecological and social costs of tin mining on the Indonesian island of Bangka. It also examines efforts to secure lithium and other critical raw materials in Europe. By tracing these material flows, the exhibition addresses the true price we must pay for the data economy.

Is the city more than a computer?

The so-called smart city uses data to "optimize" and "manage" complexity. This section examines how urban environments are being transformed by digital systems and poses the question: What if data were used to empower citizens instead of serving surveillance capitalism? A case study developed in collaboration with Digital Twin Munich proposes data as a public infrastructure and a tool for civic engagement.


Furthermore, the exhibition explores the transformation of architectural practice through data modeling, machine learning, and AI, opening new debates about how data can transform the design, construction, and demolition of buildings.

Save or delete data?

Given the increasing demand for electricity, water, and enormous amounts of electronic waste, the decision about which data we keep and which we delete has become a political act. In an age of excessive backup and storage practices, the question of which data we preserve and under what conditions is more urgent than ever. Digital archives play a crucial role in shaping historical records, while AI training raises new questions about bias, access, and memory. Can we distinguish between noise and valuable information in this vast sea of ​​data? And can we ethically navigate "black boxes" and data biases?

This chapter encourages reflection on how data infrastructures influence our remembering and forgetting, and how architectural work is tied to digital systems. It asks how we might deal with data in the future, how we might separate ourselves from what is no longer needed, and how we might design beyond the logic of unlimited storage capacities.

The book "City in the Cloud – Data on the Ground"

It brings together perspectives from architecture, media studies, technology, art, and political theory to illuminate the elementary, spatial, and temporal dimensions of data architectures.

The publication maps the social, ecological, and political impacts of ubiquitous digital connectivity and opens up spaces for a necessary rethinking of the use of raw materials, global justice, and long-term responsibility towards future generations.

As part of the accompanying program, the museum is launching the Data Talks series—seven public conversations that will take place live and be published as a podcast. They bring together experts and the public to explore the themes of the exhibition in more depth.
