From April 17th to May 10th, the Spring Festival returns to Munich – a unique three-week event featuring a giant flea market, family days, a large classic car meet, and two spectacular Friday fireworks displays (ENGLISH, ITALIANO, FRANÇAIS, DEUTSCH)

Munich. The Munich Spring Festival was first held on the Theresienwiese in 1964, bringing the fairground operators their first income after the winter. The "mini Oktoberfest" on the Theresienwiese begins on April 17th at 4 p.m. with the tapping of the first keg in the Bayernland tent. Enjoy Augustiner beer straight from the wooden barrel, accompanied by brass band music and good cheer. The festivities continue in the Hippodrome, the tent that once stood at the Munich Oktoberfest, featuring Spaten beer. The large Weißbier garden invites visitors to enjoy a leisurely snack outdoors. Besides the beer tents, there are many rides and a fantastic supporting program, which we present below. For Munich residents, the Spring Festival is the "little sister of the Oktoberfest"!

Following traditional Bavarian folk festival customs, 100 showmen will arrive with their rides and stalls, and live bands will play live music daily in the tents

The program surrounding the festival on the Theresienwiese ranges from a giant flea market and family days to a large classic car rally and two spectacular fireworks displays on Friday. We are especially looking forward to Spring Festival Sunday (this year, April 26, 2026), when the 20th ACM Classic Car Rally, traditionally organized by the ACM (Automobil Club Munich), will take place on the Theresienwiese. You can register yourself and your prized classic car: "Anyone wishing to participate needs a vehicle manufactured in 1983 or earlier!"

On Friday, April 17th, the festival program begins at approximately 2:15 p.m.
at Theresienhöhe in front of the Old Congress Hall:

The breweries will be offering free beer, and during this time the brewery wagons, marching bands, and the showmen's float will assemble.

Around 3:00 p.m., the joint parade to Theresienwiese will begin.

At 4:00 p.m., the official opening ceremony will take place in the Hippodrome, where patron Dr. Christian Scharpf, Head of the Department of Labor and Economic Development, will tap the first keg.

Sunday, April 26, 2026 – ACM Classic Car Meeting – during the 60th Munich Spring Festival (DEUTSCH, ENGLISH, ITALIANO, FRANÇAIS)

Munich. The "mini Oktoberfest" – as the Spring Festival at the Theresienwiese is also known – is just around the corner, and with it comes the 20th ACM Classic Car Meeting (this year for the first time on the second Sunday of the Spring Festival!). Soon, meticulously maintained classic cars will once again grace the Theresienwiese. As every year, the Munich Automobile Club (ACM = Automobile Club Munich of 1903 e.V. in the ADAC) will host a gathering of classic car enthusiasts. Early in the morning, vintage automobiles will roll into the southern part of the Oktoberfest grounds, under the Bavaria statue: every year, the event features fantastic VW Beetles, beloved Mantas, gleaming Porsches, and even large limousines and wide-body American cars. Anyone wishing to bring their prized possession to the classic car meet under the Bavaria statue in Munich must register in advance!

Information will be available at various additional stands. These typically include sponsors such as BMW Motorrad, TÜV Süd Munich, the Ottobrunn Veterans Club, US Cars Munich, the Märkl Auto and Motorcycle Upholstery Shop, the Wittmann Driving School, and the ADAC (German Automobile Club).

Those who register their classic car for the announced ACM Classic Car Meeting in writing (information will be available soon on the website: www.automobilclub-muenchen.de) may, after a brief pre-selection process, participate in the three-lap parade around Theresienwiese in Munich.

Afterwards, attendees can enjoy a relaxed chat in the festival tent...

At the Spring Festival, the Day of Traditions will be celebrated on the second Sunday of the festival with brass bands, Schuhplattlers, and Goaßlschnalzers - May 4, 2025 - 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

May 4, from 11:00 a.m. - Trachtler dances and music on the Day of Bavarian Traditions (English, Français, Italiano, Español, Deutsch)

Munich. It's getting traditional. Starting Sunday, May 4, Bavarian traditional costume associations, horse-drawn carriages, and even the Münchner Kindl (Munich Child) will be making their way to the Spring Festival, or rather the "Little Wiesn," on the Theresienwiese. Every year it's a celebration, with brass bands, Schuhplattlers, and Goaßlschnalzers playing their folk music in the festival tents and also performing as street musicians in the streets of the festival. This year the following groups will be participating: the "Seetaler Kirchseeon & "Riadastoana" from Feldmoching in the Isargau, from the Chiemgau Alpine Association and their Gaujugend, the Munich Oktoberfest musicians with Wolfgang Grünbauer (playing in the Festhalle Bayernland), the Musikverein Harmonie Neubiberg e.V. (playing in the Hippodrome festival tent) and "De Andern" (playing in the Munich Weissbiergarten).

Munich. Yesterday, the LITTLE OKTOBERFEST, as the spring festival on the Theresienwiese in the heart of the beautiful city of Munich is affectionately called, kicked off. Traditionally, the festival opened with the tapping of the beer keg: At 4 p.m., Munich's Economic Affairs Minister Christian Scharpf (SPD) tapped the keg and distributed the steins. The Bayernland Festival Hall (table reservations at: www.festhalle-bayernland.de) and the former Oktoberfest tent, the Hippodrom (table reservations at: www.hippodrom.de), are now celebrating every day. From April 25 to May 11, 2025, music will be playing in both tents, and more than 100 fairground attractions, including rides and stalls, will offer plenty of variety. And tomorrow, April 27, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., classic car fans will get their money's worth. The first Sunday of the festival (April 27, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) is traditionally dedicated to vintage cars.

Don't miss the classic cars in the southern part of the park under the Bavaria logo. You can expect to see VW Buses, Beetles, Mantas, beautiful Porsches, and rare sedans from the States.

The beer garden, with 800 seats, is inviting for everyone. Bavarian delicacies such as sausage salad, spare ribs, pretzels, and Obazda (traditional Bavarian sausage), as well as fine local dishes, are served. As is customary in Munich beer gardens, bringing food is permitted, but drinks should be purchased here.

A shady spot under the old chestnut trees is safe. As mentioned, you overlook the Isar River and can see the guests waving to the rafters rushing past. The summer raft trips from Wolfratshausen to Munich are very popular.

Gasthof Hinterbrühl offers a rustic restaurant with Munich charm. In winter, the decor here is unbeatable, incredibly cozy, and ideal for Christmas parties with curling.

Here, good, delicious Hacker beer is served with Bavarian food. And on the 450 seats on the service terrace you can sit under huge blue parasols.

Theresienwiese in Munich: There's a lot going on here! Circus Krone is giving two shows daily, and the Spring Festival's Ferris wheel already has its gondolas.

CIRCUS KRONE - Theresienwiese in the Blue Dome (Italiano, Deutsch, English)

Munich. In the middle of the Oktoberfest stands the Blue Dome of Circus Krone. The world-famous Munich circus has started its tour under the Bavaria statue. Anyone walking across the Theresienwiese in the afternoon or evening will hear the enthusiasm of the spectators, the music from the world's largest circus tent, and the calls for an "ENCORE!" Right next to the circus, construction of the Munich Spring Festival has begun. The first major folk festival of the year on Munich's Theresienwiese will be celebrated from April 25 to May 11, 2025. After April 21, the Blue Dome of Circus Krone will be quickly dismantled by around 200 helping hands. Yesterday, the Ferris wheel got its gondolas, and the ghost train is already set up. The Bavaria statue, brightly illuminated, looks down on the Theresienwiese with its blue cathedral and Ferris wheel! What a romantic sight!

Munich. Today the Munich Spring Festival ends on the Theresienwiese below the Bavaria! The large flea market, the classic car meeting and the fireworks, including a customs day, attracted many guests to the world-famous meadow. But: after the festival is before the festival! But let's take a look at the location of the event: Everyone knows it: the Wies'n (Bavarian) - or in standard German: the meadow! What is meant is just one meadow: the Munich Oktoberfest meadow/Theresienwiese - that beautiful, large open space that is home to the world-famous, original Munich Oktoberfest once a year. The flights to the Bavarian capital are already being booked and the hotels in Munich and the Bavarian Oberland are already being reserved. BECAUSE: Hurray! It's almost that time again: The "Wiesn", as the world-famous Munich Oktoberfest is called in Bavaria, will take place this year (meaning this year / 2024) from September 21st to October 6th. Since 1810, the Munich Oktoberfest has been held every year on the large Theresienwiese, which offers an open space of 42 hectares

The very first Munich Oktoberfest in October 1810 was held on the occasion of the wedding of Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria to Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen. In honor of the bride, the meadow was named “Theresiens Wiese” and later simply Theresienwiese. To this day, the term Wiesn is the world-famous synonym for the original Munich Oktoberfest.

Outside of the festivities, there is a skate park and a basketball court on the edge of the Oktoberfest, as well as a few goals that mark the football pitches. A bicycle park course has been painted on which everyone can practice and you can climb up the stairs inside and look out of the large Bavaria statue in front of the Hall of Fame. From here you can not only see the old town with the famous towers of the Frauenkirche and the town hall tower, but when the weather is nice you can also see the Bavarian Alps, which are ideal for hiking. The Oktoberfest meadow is located in the middle of Munich's Ludwigsvorstadt-Isarvorstadt district. During the day you should use the open gates and enter the pillar-lined Hall of Fame, where the country honors the famous Bavarians with their own busts.

The 189th Munich Oktoberfest 2024

This year too, the entrance of the Oktoberfest hosts and the famous Oktoberfest beer tapping in the Schottenhamel will open the festivities. There will be many program items during the festival from September 21st to October 6th, such as the famous cannon shooting.

The symbolic entry of the Oktoberfest hosts 2024 traditionally brings the original Oktoberfest beer from the six major Munich breweries in wooden barrels to the festival halls on the first Saturday of the Oktoberfest

When the beer arrives on the Theresienwiese in festively decorated brewery wagons, then the time has come in Munich: it's Oktoberfest again! The colorful carriages and brewery teams of the Oktoberfest hosts will be seen on September 21, 2024 at 10:45 a.m. from Josephspitalstrasse through the city to Theresienwiese. Grandstands will be set up here and there along the route so you can watch.

The Wiesn hosts - above all the festival carriages with the state father Markus Söder and the mayor of the state capital Munich Dieter Reiter - move from Josephspitalstrasse behind the Sendlinger Tor onto the wide Sonnenstrasse, then turn into Schwanthaler Strasse and drive straight on to Bavariaring, from Here you get directly to Wirtsbudenstrasse where the festival tents, or rather festival halls, of the big Oktoberfest innkeepers are lined up. In 2023, around 1,000 participants took part in the festive entry.

Every year on the first Saturday of Oktoberfest you hear “O'zapft is!”

... when the mayor of the city of Munich opens the first Oktoberfest beer keg with hopefully just a few taps. Then the first beer flows into the beer mug and the Prime Minister Markus Söder receives the first mug from the mayor. Afterwards they both come across “a peaceful Oktoberfest!” on, the music is playing and all the guests in the overcrowded festival halls are celebrating with new Oktoberfest beer.

Some people are already wishing for September 21, 2024 and guests all over the world are already planning to visit the original Munich Oktoberfest.
