Draft beer tapping, brass music, Ferris wheel, giant flea market and vintage car gathering - the folk festival season begins on the Theresienwiese in April
2025, April 25th to May 11th is the Spring Festival in Munich again (Deutsch, Français)
Munich. The Munich Spring Festival was held for the first time in 1964 on the Theresienwiese and brought the showmen their first income after the winter. The “Little Wiesn” on the Theresienwiese traditionally begins on April 25th at 4 p.m. with the tapping of the barrel in the Festzet Bayernland. There is brass music and a good mood with the Augustiner beer from the wooden barrel. The celebration takes place in the Hippodrome, in the tent that used to stand at the Munich Oktoberfest, with Spaten beer. The large wheat beer garden invites you to enjoy a cozy snack outside. In addition to the marquees, there are many rides and a great supporting program, which we present below. For the people of Munich, the spring festival is the “little sister of the Oktoberfest”: in the traditional Bavarian folk festival tradition, 100 showmen arrive with their rides and stalls and live bands play live music every day in the tents: The program surrounding the festival at the Oktoberfest ranges from a giant flea market, to family days, a large vintage car meeting and two brilliant Friday fireworks displays. Every year we particularly look forward to the first Spring Festival Sunday (this year April 27, 2025) when the 19th ACM classic car meeting on the Theresienwiese, which is traditionally organized by the ACM (Automobile Club Munich), starts. You can register for this and your garage gold: “If you want to take part, you need a vehicle built in 1983 or older!”
