Munich: Snail sculpture on the Theresienhoehe - What is a delicacy in France is a sight of great proportions in Munich...

Munich. Art in construction.
At 4.50 meters high, the snail sculpture "Sweet Brown Snail" fits into its generously sized surroundings on the 23,000 square meter space between the congress hall and the transport center of the German Museum. A snail body with its brick-colored, red snail shell was made from the light limestone of the Altmühltal.

As an art in construction project, the well-known American artists Jason Rhoades and Paul McCarthy created this object that ironically reflects the mobility illustrated in the transport center by the portable snail shell.

And humanity's longing for speed, which resonates in the exhibition objects, is twisted into its opposite by the animal's inherent slowness. In a neutral gray, the snail body with its brick-colored, red snail shell stands out from the light limestone from the Altmühltal, which occupies the entire space between the congress hall and the traffic center.
