Starnberg Lake. Anyone visiting Munich should not forget the many lakes in the Bavarian foothills of the Alps. The local lake of Munich, as Lake Starnberg is also called, is worth a trip at any time of the year. The water temperature in Lake Starnberg, which is almost 128 meters deep, is currently (December 13, 2024) at 7 degrees and can still increase a little. So: no swimming weather! From Munich you can reach the lake in about 30 minutes, as it is 40 km away. However, parking spaces are rare! But the proximity to Munich invites you to take a day trip. The Ambach Advent market brings festive spirit into the hearts of visitors. There are horse-drawn carriage rides on the lakeshore, visits from Santa Claus and festively lit wooden stalls. The sport originated in the childhood of athletes who never forgot the sound of the stone when it fell into the water. True sound artists compete every year for the most beautiful PLUFF. Santa Claus comes to Munich with goodies

Santa Claus visits the Munich Christmas markets - we have put together all the dates below

Munich. December 6th, 2024: Santa Claus is always worth seeing - so head to town!!! Or to Motorworld Munich (Am Ausbesserungswerk 8, 80939 Munich Daily from 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m), where children start lining up to read a poem or sing a song to Santa from 5 p.m. - at the end every child receives a small gift from Santa Claus. In Alpine countries such as Austria, Saint Nicholas is often accompanied by Krampus. At the Christmas market under the maypole at Luise-Kiesselbach-Platz, Santa Claus is coming today, December 6th from 5 p.m. and then again for the Krampus Run on December 7th at 5 p.m. - and all good things come in threes: on December 8th, run the children at this Christmas market skate under the maypole with the bishop.

  In addition to the great ice skating rink, there is a Christkindl Express, a train for children that runs through the winter village every day.
