Munich. You simply have to see the idyllic "Christmas market on the ship" Alte Utting: the Starfleet around the old steamer shines until December 30th. in a Christmas atmosphere (on the old railway bridge: Lagerhausstraße 15 at the wholesale market in Munich).  Crafts and food stalls and the art exhibition can be visited during the week from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on weekends and public holidays from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. And the “mulled wine festival at the Cosima Wellenbad” in the Christmas Magic Forest in Munich-Bogenhausen also has over 30 different mulled wines on offer until January 6th, 2025 (we mention them all in our article in this blog Munich-Bogenhausen: Christmas Magic Forest with 35 Types of mulled wine and the opening times of the market)... And then there is the Christmas village in the Motorworld in Freimann: here our blog post about the winter world and Christmas village - There is a Christmas village with larger chalets, a larger ice skating rink, a colorful nostalgic carousel, a Christmas workshop for young and old and a delicious culinary offering. Entry to Winterworld is free!

Munich Feuerzangenbowle between Viktualienmarkt and Schrannenhalle

 Munich cosiness: typical Feuerzangenbowle

The original Munich Feuerzangenbowle brings Bavarian cosiness into the winter time

Munich Feuerzangenbowle daily until January 6, 2025

Munich. Feuerzangenbowle. It is well-known, popular and part of the ceremony in the run-up to Christmas: the Munich Feuerzangenbowle! This winter we can no longer find it in the courtyard of the Isartor, because it has moved. Together with the kettle, rum and sugar loaf, we can find the Feuerzangenbowle between the Hochbunker and the Schrannenhalle behind the Viktualienmarkt (Blumenstraße 22) until January 6th. When the warm, reddish glow of the kettle fire blazes, a time of romance and cosiness begins every day. Until the new year, walkers can find a nice, hot cup of Feuerzangenbowle here. This delicious, warming drink comes from the copper cauldron of the Munich Druids. You have to try it in Munich in winter, this typical winter drink will stay in your memory!

From the original idea to the first glass of punch

At the beginning of the 2000s, Hartmut Senkel and Jan Oltznauer - two people from Munich - had the idea of a huge cauldron with Feuerzangenbowle. To this day it is reminiscent of Asterix and Obelix's cauldron, in which the druid brewed the magic potion. The two people from Munich had the hand-forged kettle constructed for the fireplace and the tap system. And the Munich Feuerzangenbowle was born! Basically: the Munich magic potion for the winter time!

The starting signal for the Feuerzangenbowle has been heard in Munich for ten years: “Burn off the Sugar Loaf!”. The local Feuerzangenbowle consists of many ingredients, including wine, rum, cinnamon, oranges and spices.

The scent of the punch is unique and you always look forward to the first sip when the space around the bowl is bathed in romantic light as darkness falls.

It is a winter drink that unifies and brings the people of Munich together. With this you can celebrate into the New Year.

The Munich Feuerzangenbowle for seniors - from the age of 66!

This winter we are meeting again for the Munich Feuerzangenbowle not far from the Viktualienmarkt. And everyone should be able to afford it: It's hard to believe that it gets cheaper here from the age of 66! Because there is even a senior cup for just 4 euros - upon proof of age.

Simultaneous exhibition “I’m at home, I’m here”

Together, the History Workshop Ludwigsvorstadt-Isarvorstadt and the Munich District History Association have created an exhibition on the topic of migration. Many Munich families once immigrated. The exhibition shows images and texts about the history of immigration to Munich on a flat screen. The free exhibition will be on display at the warming Feuerzangenbowlen kettle until January 6, 2025.
