5th Baden-Baden Classics 2026 featuring the "Concours d'Elegance," tea dance at the Kurhaus, Sunday shopping, and "The Nutcracker" performed by the Hamburg Ballet at the Festspielhaus
5th Baden-Baden Classics 2026 on October 11, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., in the city center (DEUTSCH, FRANÇAIS, ENGLISH, NEDERLANDS)
Baden-Baden. The spa town on the Oos River invites visitors to the UNESCO World Heritage City to experience the "Concours d'Elegance"—a showcase of "garage gold" (prized classic cars) accompanied by participants in period attire. Around 50 vintage car owners and their magnificent vehicles are expected for this special event; they will drive a convertible parade through the city in hourly intervals (12 p.m. – 4 p.m.: hourly Concours d'Elegance with vehicle judging). The Baden-Baden vintage car event concludes with an awards ceremony for the most beautiful classic cars.

The famous "Concours d'élégance" traces its roots back to the
"Baden-Baden Automobile Tournaments."
These events featured a week-long, comprehensive rally complete with all the trimmings—including skill-based driving tests, hill climbs, flat races, and a concluding flower parade. That was a long time ago; the events took place just over a century ago, between the 1920s and 1930s.
Today, the "Baden-Baden Classics" carries on this tradition by evaluating the overall impression created by participants and their vintage automobiles. The interplay between human and mechanical elegance takes center stage, which is why the car parades also serve as fashion showcases.

"The World of John Neumeier"
From October 1 to 11, a banner spanning the B500 (Black Forest High Road) at the entrance to Baden-Baden invites the public to discover "The World of John Neumeier."
The master choreographer has curated the spa town's current dance festival in collaboration with world-renowned companies. In a special exhibition, Neumeier showcases his life's work, featuring productions such as the legendary *Nijinsky* and various Russian ballets. The event also hosts outstanding state ballet companies at the Baden-Baden Festspielhaus, including the Bavarian State Ballet, the Hamburg Ballet, the Copenhagen Chamber Ballet, and the Ballet of La Scala, Milan.
After Tchaikovsky’s *Swan Lake*—performed by the Bavarian State Ballet—captivated the audience’s hearts last weekend with its set design and choreography, *The Nutcracker* (based on the fairy tale by E.T.A. Hoffmann) now takes the stage. John Neumeier’s adaptation offers a unique experience, with performers who truly touch the audience's hearts. The music, dance, set design, and the atmosphere of the hall all play their part, transporting the audience to another realm...
