Green parade of the Munich Irish before the national holiday St. Patrick's Day with Highlanders and medieval fans
Event tip: March 16th and 17th St. Patrick's Day 2024 in Munich - GERMAN
Munich. Every year on March 16th and 17th, the Irish delight us on St. Patrick's Day with a big Sunday parade and a celebration with a program under the motto: Lá fhéile Pádraig sona dhuit!. With music, the Irish groups move from Münchner Freiheit to Odeonsplatz where the big festival is celebrated with Irish music, specialties and conviviality. Since 1996, the weekend before Irish national holiday (St. Patrick's Day) on March 17th has been celebrated in Munich. The Munich Irish Network e. V. (MIN) has many volunteers and in 2024 the patronage for the celebrations will be Munich's Mayor Dieter Reiter.

Highlanders, rugby players, medieval fans, leprechauns, flag bearers, sports clubs, traditional costume and folklore clubs
Traditionally, the parade, which is held in honor of Ireland's national saint St. Patrick, includes not only music bands, but also flag bearers and sports clubs, traditional costume groups and folklore clubs. Highlanders, rugby players, medieval fans and leprechauns march side by side and behind each other - these are the famous green-clad little goblins under their big hats. And among the many spectators we will again discover people with big green hats and Irish shamrock glasses.
The supporting program offers an Irish Night and Irish Fair on March 16th, with the Irish Night starting at 8 p.m. in the Tavern at the Schlachthof
On the eve of St. Patrick's Day, on March 16th from 8 p.m., Irish Night begins in the Tavern at the Schlachthof. The Paul Daly Band plays folk songs from the Emerald Isle. The duo The Sundries and the show dance group Rince Tir Na Nog heat things up from the stage.
- Tickets for the Irish Night are available from the municipal provider MünchenTicket.
