Ammerland. Vacation in Bavaria! From Munich, take the S-Bahn to Münsing or Starnberg and from there, take the bus to Ammerland. A must for visitors to Munich and a sunny, relaxing day of vacation and swimming at the lake! Loriot sat in the romantic garden of the fisherman Seebald and picked up his rolls at the Graf Bakery. LORIOT, whose aristocratic name was Vicco von Bülow (1923-2011), lived for many years on Lake Starnberg. Ammerland was his home. ... and Count Franz Graf von Pocci, the famous Kasperle character, also had his castle here in Ammerland. Count von Pocci was the author of the Kasperle plays in the 19th century. Münsing erected a monument to the writer, illustrator, and creator of the "Lafari" (the "Lafari") in Münsing (in front of the local school).

Sebald Boat Rental offers rowboats, sailboats, and electric boats – from the Aira 22 with a lifting keel to a modern daysailer! ... and they also offer fishing licenses for recreational anglers (for a fee).

Here, Loriot sat in the romantic garden,

.......... mostly hidden behind a peaked cap and a scarf, enjoying the delicious fish of the court fishing master "Seebald" - as we are told here...

The pugs were always there, because, as Loriot said:

"A life without a pug is possible. But pointless."

There used to be a boat dock here, which brought many guests to Ammerland... that is now history, and the beautiful lakeside hotel with its beer garden right on the lake is...

Loriot bought his rolls at the Graf Bakery, and yes, it's true, he signed the bakery of his favorite baker.

The comedian Loriot's signature is still protected on the bakery's tiles to this day.

Filming takes place here on weekends: Today, scenes from "Hubert ohne Staller" (Hubert without Staller) are filmed here – the bakery is renamed Rattinger each time for the show. Filming location pilgrims and fans alike often find themselves here and are quickly convinced by the high quality of the master bakers' art.

The Graf Bakery in Ammerland is run by the fourth generation.

Here you can find freshly baked bread, cakes, and coffee on the terrace... oh yes, and people who live by the lake can also buy cheese and sausage for dinner here! ... Loriot's life-size "Men in the Bath" even made it to Münsing Square by the stream.

The Loriot Fountain, in the shape of that very bathtub, was erected as a worthy memorial to Loriot, the honorary citizen of the municipality of Münsing on Lake Starnberg.

You should treat yourself to a coffee or a delicious ice cream at the Loriot fountain!

The two men sit in the tub and from time to time spit a jet of water, but it doesn't hit the target.

Pocci is far, far more than a street name and a subway station in 

Franz Graf von Pocci (1807–1876) was a Munich resident. After studying law, he was appointed Master of Ceremonies by King Ludwig I. He founded an antiquarian society and accompanied Ludwig I and Crown Prince Maximilian on many trips to Italy. He was married to Countess Albertine von Marschall, and they had two children. In 1841, the family acquired Ammerland Castle.

Kasperl-Larifari and Count Pocci

It was probably a stroke of luck for Count Pocci too when the founder of the Munich Marionette Theater, Josef "Papa" Schmid, approached him in December 1858 to obtain official permission to establish the theater. Count Pocci was the court music director at the time.
He granted the permission and also became a playwright. He wrote around 40 plays for the Munich Marionette Theater, among them those about Kasperl Larifari. Through him, Kasperle became a legendary figure in puppetry, known worldwide today. His reputation as Count Kasperl has gone down in the history of puppetry, as well as in the history of Munich and Bavaria.

 Ammerland: GRAF Bakery reopens after six months!

Lake Starnberg is worth a trip whatever the weather, and the delicious cakes at the reopened Graf Bakery in Ammerland are definitely worth it! Tested today ;-)) :-) Delicious, delicious!!!

Franz Graf is the fourth generation to take over the traditional Ammerland bakery Graf, which has existed since 1905 (Deutsch, Français, Italiano)

Ammerland on Lake Starnberg. Lake Starnberg is located about 40 km from the gates of Munich in the beautiful Alpine foothills: There are many interesting places around Lake Starnberg. Today we were on the east side of the lake in the tranquil Ammerland region, which belongs to the municipality of Münsing. Despite the rain and snow showers, the trip was appealing because we had heard that the GRAF Bakery has reopened since the beginning of March 2025. The cakes from the Graf family's pastry chefs and master bakers convey a sense of life through the palate and allow you to relax from everyday life. "Bäckerei GRAF - In 4 generations since 1905 - "BAKERY - CONFECTIONERY - STAND-UP CAFÉ," is what it says in large letters on the shop's panoramic windows. The traditional bakery GRAF on the main street in Ammerland, on the beautiful Lake Starnberg, is known throughout Germany. It was and still is a filming location in the successful early evening crime series "Hubert and Staller" and later "Hubert without Staller." For the early evening series, the bakery is renamed "Bäckerei Rattlinger" on some filming weekends. The story of the Graf Bakery continues!

When the weather is nice, the terrace is furnished with chairs and filled with locals and vacationers, because they know that this is where you can find the best, freshest, and tastiest cakes on the lake.

Locals from the neighborhood – even us from Munich… – are thrilled that their bakery has reopened, because:

Master baker Hubert Graf (65) closed his traditional bakery about six months ago due to a "lack of staff."

Now Franz Graf is continuing his family's business as a pastry chef and master baker.

It's great that the profession of baker and pastry chef seems to be in the Grafs' genes, after all, this bakery has been a family business for 120 years!

And so it's no surprise that Regina and Hubert Graf's son, 26-year-old Franz Graf, is reorganizing the business as a pastry chef and master baker.

Today we enjoyed cheesecake and coffee in the standing café, chatted here and there with the other guests and the waitress... and saw the beautiful lake in the distance.

Cakes and baked goods from the Graf bakery, or cheese and sausage from local producers, complete the selection

For residents, vacationers, and campers at the lake, this small shop in Ammerland is a short walk for quick shopping.

Order a warm Leberkäse roll, a fresh coffee, or a cold drink, or buy pasta or a bottle of eggnog from Dietramszell in addition to bread and baked goods. For Sunday breakfast, quickly pick up Straubing jam and rolls—and you can also pick up spirits from the Sauerlach Kiendl distillery for a quick gift.

And then there's the Thomahof farm in Königsdorf, which supplies the fresh produce counter with fine sausages, as well as the many cheeses and yogurt that come from nearby Ettal.

Those who shop here buy organic goods and find products with short transport routes.

At the Graf bakery, you can shop all week, including Saturday and Sunday mornings.

• It is closed on Mondays, but open Tuesday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

They also offer fresh produce for weekend breakfast on

• Saturday 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
• Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Memory of the Graf and Loriot bakery

 

Starnberg Lake near Munich. LORIOT, whose noble name was Vicco von Bülow (1923-2011), lived on Lake Starnberg for a long time. Ammerland was his home. The Berlin-born illustrator and humorist Loriot soon moved to Munich and finally to the community of Münsing on Lake Starnberg. Here Loriot sat in the romantic garden, mostly hidden behind a peaked cap/cap and a scarf, to enjoy the delicious fish from the court fishing master Sebald. Whenever we stop by there, we inevitably think of the grand master of dry humor. His pugs were always there because, according to Loriot: "A life without a pug is possible. But it's pointless."

Film location: Graf Bakery and Rattlinger Bakery in Ammerland

Film location pilgrims and fans often came here and were quickly convinced by the high quality of the master baking art. The crime show has made the Graf bakery, which has now unfortunately closed (after several generations of master bakers) due to a lack of staff, known nationwide.

There used to be a jetty for the Starnberger See shipping company when traveling to Ammerland

A small drawback for the journey: unfortunately the jetty in Ammerland was removed a few years ago, so that the Starnberger See-Schifffahrt will no longer travel to this particularly romantic place on the lake. Locals and guests will miss this journey!

Count von Pocci, the inventor of the Punch and Judy show, also lived in Ammerland

The Kasperl Count, whose monument can be found in Münsing at the school, lived here in his beautiful castle, which unfortunately cannot be visited.

LORIOT's drawings, films and books are still well-known classics today

His humor will surely delight generations to come. Whether it's about leisure sports, Christmas at the Hoppenstedts, the famous piano of the aunt from America, Odipussi or Papa ante portas, Loriot's humor is immediately present to connoisseurs just by hearing the title.

Loriot published numerous popular books with the Swiss Diogenes Verlag, which are still popular classics.
