Baden-Baden. A MUST for comic fans!!! Manga is the Japanese term for comics. In Europe, however, manga only means those drawings that also come from Japan. One of the greatest manga artists can be seen in southern Germany from November ... One of the most famous artists of his time is the Japanese Yoshitomo Nara (*1959). His “Angry Girls” spoke the artistic language of the manga generation from the start and quickly became internationally known. His imagery comes from traditional painting techniques mixed with the Japanese comic style. It is mainly stylized depictions of girls with large heads and melancholic eyes that have become his trademark. In the exhibition “Yoshitomo Nara,” the Frieder Burda Museum is showing paintings, drawings, sculptures and installations that were created over four decades.
