The Ministry of Education and Culture of Saarland and the German Commission for UNESCO honor 18 new inscriptions in the National Register of Intangible Cultural Heritage (Deutsch, English, Français)

Saarland honors the diversity of living traditions: At the ceremony in Saarbrücken Castle today, the bearers of the cultural forms newly inscribed in the National Register of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2025 were officially honored. A total of 18 cultural forms were recognized, including, for the first time, three explicitly Saarland traditions: Saarland Carnival, the St. Nicholas Post Office, and the Wadrill Farmstead Association. With these inscriptions, the register has grown to 168 entries. We list the new inscriptions below! The St. Nicholas post office is located in St. Nikolaus (Nikloos in the local dialect), a district of the municipality of Großrosseln near Saarbrücken – from here, St. Nicholas answers children's letters from all over the world. We are also delighted about the recent inclusion of analog photography in the list of intangible cultural heritage!

Saarland's Minister of Culture, Christine Streichert-Clivot:

It shows that our historical, regional customs are not only valued locally, but also hold a place in the national cultural memory. This recognition is not only a sign of the importance of cultural heritage in Saarland, but also acknowledges the tireless work and commitment of the three institutions, their partners, and their members. Their achievements are now being recognized in a national context, and that makes me very proud."

For more than 20 years, UNESCO has supported the preservation and transmission of living traditions through its Intangible Cultural Heritage program

This includes dance, theater, music, natural sciences, craft techniques, and oral traditions. International, national, and regional inventories now exist.

In spring 2022, the Saarland State Register was launched on the initiative of the Minister-President and Commissioner of the Federal Republic of Germany for Franco-German Cultural Relations, Anke Rehlinger, and the Minister of Education and Culture, Christine Streichert-Clivot.

A research advisory service at the Saar-Lor-Lux-Alsace Literary Archive supports applicants in the application and documentation of their cultural forms.

Le ministère de l'Éducation et de la Culture de la Sarre et la Commission allemande pour l'UNESCO célèbrent 18 nouvelles inscriptions au Registre national du patrimoine culturel immatériel (Deutsch, English, Français)

La Sarre célèbre la diversité de ses traditions vivantes : lors de la cérémonie qui s'est tenue aujourd'hui au château de Sarrebruck, les détenteurs des formes culturelles nouvellement inscrites au Registre national du patrimoine culturel immatériel en 2025 ont été officiellement honorés. Au total, 18 formes culturelles ont été reconnues, dont, pour la première fois, trois traditions spécifiquement sarraises : le Carnaval de la Sarre, le bureau de poste Saint-Nicolas et l'Association de la ferme Wadrill. Avec ces inscriptions, le registre compte désormais 168 entrées. Retrouvez la liste des nouvelles inscriptions ci-dessous ! Le bureau de poste Saint-Nicolas se trouve à Saint-Nicolas (Nikloos en dialecte local), un quartier de la commune de Großrosseln, près de Sarrebruck. Christine Streichert-Clivot, ministre de la Culture de la Sarre :

Chacune des 18 formes culturelles nouvellement inscrites est une expression vivante de cette dynamique et un élément fondamental de la diversité et de la cohésion culturelles en Allemagne. La reconnaissance de nos formes culturelles sardes au sein du patrimoine culturel immatériel fédéral est un grand honneur. Elle montre que nos coutumes historiques et régionales ne sont pas seulement valorisées localement, mais qu'elles occupent également une place importante dans la mémoire culturelle nationale. Cette reconnaissance témoigne non seulement de l'importance du patrimoine culturel en Sarre, mais elle reconnaît également le travail et l'engagement inlassables des trois institutions, de leurs partenaires et de leurs membres. Leurs réalisations sont désormais reconnues à l'échelle nationale, et j'en suis très fière. »

Depuis plus de 20 ans, l'UNESCO soutient la préservation et la transmission des traditions vivantes grâce à son programme du patrimoine culturel immatériel

Ce programme englobe la danse, le théâtre, la musique, les sciences naturelles, les techniques artisanales et les traditions orales. Des inventaires internationaux, nationaux et régionaux existent.

Au printemps 2022, le Registre régional de la Sarre a été créé à l'initiative d'Anke Rehlinger, ministre-présidente et commissaire aux relations culturelles franco-allemandes de la République fédérale d'Allemagne, et de Christine Streichert-Clivot, ministre de l'Éducation et de la Culture.

Un service de conseil en recherche, hébergé par les Archives littéraires de la Sarre-Lor-Luxembourg-Alsace, accompagne les candidats dans leurs démarches de dépôt et de documentation de leurs formes culturelles.
