Frankfurt in March 2025. Lappan Verlag in the Carlsen Verlag GmbH and the Frankfurt Book Fair are calling for entries to the German Cartoon Prize. And there, they are eagerly awaiting "witty, subtle, political, and non-political cartoons" that have just made their way into the magazine. Cartoonists can submit their best cartoons created since November 2024. The deadline for entries is Thursday, September 5, 2025, at 5 p.m. The prizes are endowed with: 1st prize: €3,000, 2nd prize: €2,000, 3rd prize: €1,000. The jury will select the winners for the book "BEST PICTURES 16 – THE CARTOONS OF THE YEAR 2025" from all submissions and determine the winners of the 2025 German Cartoon Prize. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony. In addition, the city of Kassel will present the "Caricatura Gallery" Audience Award, endowed with €1,000.

Please send the cartoons as attachments in a zipped folder via email to:

The email should not be larger than 10 MB.
Cartoons can also be submitted via a cloud service (e.g., WeTransfer, Dropbox, OneDrive):
- Processing will take place within 5 business days.
- Please note that the link sent will be valid for this time.
Folders and individual files should be named with your last name and first name:
Lastname_Firstname_1 etc.
The number of cartoons is not fixed; they should be the best and no more than 50 cartoons:
Personal data will be processed and stored.
Unused cartoons will be deleted.

Cartoons of the Year - The Exhibition and Awards Ceremony:
The exhibition "Best Pictures - The Cartoons of the Year 2025" runs from November 8, 2025, until February 2026, at the Caricatura Gallery in Kassel.
Visitors can cast their votes for the Audience Award here.
The awards ceremony is a public evening event in the south wing of the Kulturbahnhof Kassel
- on January 9, 2026, at 7:30 p.m.
- organized by the Caricatura Gallery and Lappan Verlag - supported by the "cdw Foundation"
The best 16 pictures will be published in a book entitled
"BEST PICTURES 16 - THE CARTOONS OF THE YEAR 2025"
The book will be titled "BEST PICTURES 16 - THE CARTOONS OF THE YEAR 2025."
Approximately 250 of the best cartoons of the year will be published on 176 pages.
