Wolfsburg - Autostadt - ZeitHaus. For over seven decades, the legendary VW bus has transported people and goods all over the world. To mark its 75th anniversary, there is a special exhibition "75 Years of VW Bus" at Zeithaus featuring special VW Bus models - from the T1 to the all-electric ID. Buzz. A VW Bus, or at best a camper van, makes many vintage car enthusiasts' hearts beat faster. It is cherished and cared for. It is loved! Who doesn't fondly remember a study trip in a VW Bus? From the 1960s to the Golf generation, there are probably some who are nodding now. ... We went to France, Italy, or simply to the nearest lake.

Usually, someone had a guitar with them and strummed songs by Stevens and the like around the campfire. Vintage car fans carry this memory, or a completely different one, with them, because a VW bus evokes emotion. Now the family bus – affectionately known as the Bulli – is celebrating its 75th birthday!

Volkswagen Type 2 T1
"Sinalco" (1950)

The second-oldest surviving VW Bus in the world is a true highlight of the exhibition. Its striking Sinalco paint scheme and chassis number 1502 make it a true highlight.

Volkswagen Type 2 T1
"Samba" (1964)

23 windows, a panoramic roof, and aluminum trim: the "Samba" is the elegant VW Bus.

First presented as a special model at the 1951 Frankfurt Motor Show, it became the dream vehicle for campers.

Westfalia Camper (1972)

Highlight of the mobile lifestyle: The T2 Westfalia Camper with a retractable roof, kitchen module, and space for up to four sleeping guests...

"California" (1989)

It was Volkswagen's first production camper: the T3 "California" with 95 hp and comfortable features.

Volkswagen T4 Multivan
"Pan-Americana" (1999)

In 1999, the adventure began on the legendary Pan-American Highway, covering a total of 22,880 kilometers from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego in just over 14 days.

"Dakar Support Vehicle" (2006)

It participated in the Dakar Rally with a roll cage, rally seats, and special suspension.

Electric (1972)

The pioneer of electric mobility was already rolling in 1972: the T2 with a removable battery system and 22 hp. It achieved a range of 80 kilometers.

Wolfsburg - Autostadt - ZeitHaus. Über sieben Jahrzehnten bewegt der legendäre VW-Bus Menschen und Güter auf der ganzen Welt. Zu seinem 75. Jubiläum gibt es die Sonderausstellung „75 Jahre Bulli“ mit besonderen Bulli-Modellen im Zeithaus - vom  T1 bis zum vollelektrischen ID. Buzz. Ein Bulli, bestenfalls ein Camper lässt viele Oldtimer-Fanherzen höher schlagen. Er wird gehegt und gepflegt. Er wird geliebt! Wer erinnert sich nicht gerne an eine Studienfahrt mit dem Bulli. - Von den Sixties bis zur Generation Golf dürften einige dabei sein, die jetzt nicken. ... Auf ins Abenteuer ging es 1999 auf die legendäre Panamericana und damit ganze 22.880 Kilometer von Alaska bis Feuerland in etwas über 14 Tagen.

Auf der  Rallye Dakar war er dabei mit Überrollkäfig, Rallyesitzen und Spezialfahrwerk dabei.

Happy Birthday Bulli! The VW Bus turns 75 - Under the title "From Samba to Stromer," the Autostadt celebrates the Bulli at the Zeithaus in Wolfsburg.

Wolfsburg. Happy Birthday Bulli! In 1950, it was a "symbol of the economic miracle." Every classic car enthusiast knows it or has even driven one. It all started as a small bus for work at the VW factory in Wolfsburg. But then, when it went into series production, the fan base grew rapidly. The Flower Power generation enjoyed the Samba, the Camper, and everything that came after it. Now, over seven decades have passed, and the bus racer has changed, but it still finds fans. The legendary VW bus has transported us, goods, and, as a small caravan, even vacationers to holiday destinations on the Mediterranean, the Atlantic, or the Baltic Sea. It's a legendary 75th anniversary, hosted by the Autostadt in Wolfsburg. A journey through time features selected VW bus models – from the air-cooled T1 with its many windows to the all-electric, compact ID. Buzz. The following VW bus photographs were taken in Munich at the legendary classic car gathering on the Theresienwiese and are included in this article as symbolic images.

The Bulli models come from the Autostadt collection and from the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Classic Cars inventory

The Bulli has changed, but its character has remained the same, the one that Bulli enthusiasts expect. Because, as we've also learned: every model was unusually new in its time, but our viewing habits quickly became GUTFREUND with the slight model changes.

The exhibition features the following Bulli models:

• Volkswagen Type 2 T1 "Sinalco" (1950)

This is the second oldest surviving Bulli in the world and thus a true highlight of the exhibition.

• Volkswagen Type 2 T1 "Samba" (1964)

With 23 windows, a panoramic roof, and aluminum trim strips...

• Volkswagen T2 Westfalia Camper (1972)

The T2 Camper with Westfalia conversion - a favorite of independent travelers.

A true adventure vehicle: In 1999, it drove the legendary Pan-American Highway – 22,880 kilometers from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego in a whopping 15 days.

• Volkswagen T5 Kombi 4MOTION "Dakar Support Vehicle" (2006)

...you know it from the Dakar Rally – roll cage, rally seats, and special chassis. A testament to the van's off-road capabilities.

The ID. Buzz is a complete reboot of the Bulli, with 204 hp and a range of 423 kilometers. For the #BULLILOVEstories marketing tour, an ID. Buzz traveled over 120,000 kilometers through 41 countries.

Sonderausstellung zeigt alle Bulli-Modelle vom legendären T1 bis zu ID Buzz (English)

Wolfsburg. Happy Birthday Bulli! 1950 war er ein "Symbol des Wirtschaftswunders". Jeder Oldtimerfreund kennt ihn oder ist mit ihn sogar schon einmal gefahren. Am Anfang stand ein kleiner Bus für die Arbeiten im VW-Werk in Wolfsburg. Aber dann, als er in Serie gebaut wurden, wuchs die Fan-Gemeinde schnell. Die Flower-Pauer-Generation freute sich über den Samba, den Camper und alles was noch so kam. Nun sind es über sieben Jahrzehnte und der Bus-Renner hat sich gewandelt, aber er findet immernoch Freunde. Der legendäre VW-Bus hat uns, Güter und als kleiner Wohnwagen auch Urlauber in Urlaubsregionen am Mittelmeer, am Atlantik oder an die Ostsee gebracht.  Es ein legendäres 75. Jubiläum, das die Autostadt in Wolfsburg ausrichtet. In einer Zeitreise findet man ausgewählte Bulli-Modelle – vom luftgekühlten T1 mit den vielen Fenstern bis zum vollelektrischen, kompakten ID. Buzz. Die Folgenden VW-Bulli-Fotografien wurden in München beim legendären Oldtimertreffen auf der Theresienwiese aufgenommen und sind in diesem Artikel als Symbolbilder.

  Der Bulli hat sich gewandelt, aber sein Charakter ist geblieben, jener, den Bulli-Freunde erwarten; denn, auch das haben wir gelernt: jedes Modell war in seiner Zeit ungewöhnlich neu, aber unsere Sehgewohnheiten waren mit den leichten Modellveränderungen schnell GUTFREUND.
