Baden-Baden. Laat bloemen spreken! "Bloom up! The Language of Flowers" ... Dat is het motto van de bijzondere tentoonstelling in de kuurstad. Op 13 juni 2026 lanceerden de Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden en het Badisches Landesmuseum in Karlsruhe hun eerste gezamenlijke tentoonstellingsproject en startten daarmee een van de spannendste experimenten in het huidige Duitse museumlandschap. Door middel van samenwerkingsprojecten in de komende jaren brengen de twee instellingen – elk met hun eigen specifieke focus – hedendaagse kunst en cultuurgeschiedenis met elkaar in een levendige dialoog. "Bloom up! The Language of Flowers" is de eerste grote gezamenlijke tentoonstelling; deze is tot 10 januari 2027 te zien in de Staatliche Kunsthalle in Baden-Baden.

Van de Oud-Egyptische lotus en art-nouveau-rozen tot digitale bloemenfantasieën

De rondgang door de tentoonstelling biedt gelegenheid tot emotionele ontmoetingen met de geur, schoonheid en vergankelijkheid van bloemen. Thema's als liefde, herinnering, macht en identiteit worden vanuit nieuwe perspectieven belicht.

De tentoonstelling "Bloom up! The Language of Flowers" toont cultuurhistorische objecten uit de collectie van Karlsruhe naast hedendaagse artistieke werken.

Naast 2500 jaar cultuurgeschiedenis – variërend van de Oud-Egyptische lotus en art-nouveau-rozen tot hedendaagse digitale bloemenfantasieën – omvat de tentoonstelling werk van:

Ketuta Alexi-Meskhishvili, Allora & Calzadilla, Belia Zanna, Geetha Brückner, Petrit Halilaj & Álvaro Urbano, Jonas Mekas, Willem de Rooij, Taryn Simon en Sissel Tolaas.

Een app van de Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden breidt de tentoonstelling uit naar het digitale domein

Naast standaard audiogidsen biedt de app verdiepende inzichten.

Daarnaast biedt de app verschillende modi die een nieuwe manier bieden om de tentoonstelling samen te beleven. In de groepsmodus zorgen spelletjes en peilingen voor leuke interactie.

Baden-Baden. Let flowers do the talking! "Bloom up! The Language of Flowers" ... This is the motto of the special exhibition in the spa town. On June 13, 2026, the Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden and the Badisches Landesmuseum in Karlsruhe launched their first joint exhibition project, initiating one of the most exciting experiments currently underway in the German museum landscape. Through collaborative projects over the coming years, the two institutions—each with its own distinct focus—will bring contemporary art and cultural history into a lively dialogue. "Bloom up! The Language of Flowers" is the first major joint special exhibition; it is on view at the Staatliche Kunsthalle in Baden-Baden until January 10, 2027.

From the ancient Egyptian lotus and Art Nouveau roses to digital floral fantasies

The exhibition tour offers opportunities for emotional encounters with the scent, beauty, and transience of flowers. Themes such as love, memory, power, and identity are viewed from new perspectives.

The exhibition "Bloom up! The Language of Flowers" presents objects of cultural history from the Karlsruhe collection alongside contemporary artistic positions.

In addition to 2,500 years of cultural history—spanning from the ancient Egyptian lotus and Art Nouveau roses to contemporary digital floral fantasies—the exhibition features works by:

Ketuta Alexi-Meskhishvili, Allora & Calzadilla, Belia Zanna, Geetha Brückner, Petrit Halilaj & Álvaro Urbano, Jonas Mekas, Willem de Rooij, Taryn Simon, and Sissel Tolaas.
