Monaco. Oltre al “padrino del punk” Iggy Pop, nell’estate del 2025 si esibirà a Monaco anche Patti Smith, la “madrina del punk”. Il concerto si svolgerà il 14 luglio 2025 e il palco dell'arena musicale ruggirà quando il Patti Smith Quartet addolcirà l'estate musicale di Monaco con rock, punk e poesia al Tollwood Summer Festival. - I fan di Patti Smith erano un po' preoccupati dopo che è arrivata la notizia che la musicista 78enne è collassata sul palco di San Paolo, in Brasile - i suoi medici hanno detto che il motivo erano le forti emicranie che affliggevano Patti. Il musicista ha dato il via libera lo stesso giorno e ha detto che si sentiva già meglio. In Germania è previsto un concerto a Berlino l'11 luglio e il concerto qui a Monaco il 14 luglio 2025.

Patti Smith ha fatto la storia della musica con il suo album di debutto “Horses” nel 1975

Horses divenne uno degli album rock più influenti e affermò il cantante, nato a Chicago il 30 dicembre 1946, sulla scena musicale. La sua canzone più famosa "Because the Night" è un must in ogni concerto: questo classico è stato scritto insieme da Patti Smith e Bruce Springsteen.

Come autrice, Patti Smith ha presentato alcuni anni fa la sua autobiografia "Just Kids", per la quale è stata insignita del National Book Award - in essa, tra le altre cose, descrive la sua amicizia con Robert Mapplethorpe.

München. Neben dem "Godfather of Punk" Iggy Pop wird auch Patti Smith, die „Godmother of Punk“ im Sommer 2025 in München auftreten. Das Konzert findet am 14. Juli 2025 statt und Bühne der Musik-Arena wird toben, wenn  das Patti Smith Quartet  mit Rock, Punk und Poesie auf dem Tollwood Sommerfestival den Münchner Musiksommer versüßt. - Etwas beunruhigt waren Patti Smith-Fans nachdem die Nachricht kam, das die 78-jährige Musikerin auf der Bühne im brasilianischen São Paulo kollabierte - wie ihre Ärzte sagten, war der Grund die heftige Migräne, die Patti plagte. Die Musikerin gab noch am selben Tag Entwarnung und sagte, dass es ihr schon besser gehe. In Deutschland sind im Sommer am 11. Juli ein Konzert in Berlin und am 14. Juli 2025 das Konzert bei uns in München geplant.

Mit ihrem Debütalbum „Horses“ schrieb Patti Smith im Jahr 1975 Musikgeschichte

Horses wurde zu den einflussreichsten Rockalben und etablierte die Sängerin, die am 30. Dezember 1946 in Chicago geboren wurde, in der Musik-Szene. Ihr wohl bekanntester Song „Because the Night“ darf bei keinem Konzert fehlen - diesen Klassiker, schrieben Patti Smith und Bruce Springsteen gemeinsam. 

Als Autorin stellte Patti Smith vor einigen Jahren ihre Autobiografie „Just Kids“ vor, für welche sie mit dem National Book Award geehrt wurde - darin beschreibt sie unteranderem Ihre Freundschaft mit Robert Mapplethorpe.

The American “Godmother of Punk” Patti Smith still rocks!

Munich. In 1975, a new musical age began with "Horses": the age of punk! And Patricia Lee “Patti” Smith (born December 30, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois) was there. She was a woman. She rebelled. She didn't want gender roles. She wanted freedom! She played the guitar. She sang. At that time Patti was already 29 years old. Their music and their lyrics represented the desire for freedom of an entire generation. Rebel, punk singer, lyricist and all with emotion. This woman is iconic! We first met the Goodmother of Punk in Munich in 2008.

Patti Smith represents 49 years of punk history

Almost 50 years have passed since the first record. Patti sang, painted, photographed, wrote and texted. Books like “Just Kids” (ISBN 978-3596188857), in which she revives her life and her friendship with Robert Mapplethorne, were published. A crazy time! 
 
By the way, she received the National Book Award for this book in 2010 and we met her again at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof in Munich.

"Come with me, let's have coffee upstairs!" she said to me and we took the elevator up. We sat down in the corner of the sofa. Patti wiped the full table once with a generous movement and books, newspapers, magazines and many small items flew onto the carpet. When the table was empty the coffee came! Patti drank it black and we chatted. She picked up her guitar and played a few chords.

She started in New York in the 70s and knew every rock size. 
 
Who doesn't know it, your “Because The Night”! By the way, this title was written by Bruce Springsteen.

And how could it be otherwise: as a rock poet, Patti Smith always came up with new songs herself

 
Her last album "Banga" came out in 2012. The now 77-year-old punk lady hasn't lost any of her stage presence. She has always remained true to herself.

We remember meeting Patti Smith in Munich

A timeless woman, around 170 tall, once with a brown, shoulder-length mane, now honorably gray, was introduced to me for the first time in Munich in 2008. In Georg Urban's art shop - which sells sculptures and religious folk art. We hit it off straight away. She talked about her daughter, of whom she is very proud. She may have grown up a long time ago, but she would still bring her my children's book: "Hetti Blue-Hair" - as she called it with a smile. (My book "Hetti Hexenfee. Fly higher Hetti always higher. A story from Hexenstadt" was published in 2008)

A friendship: Patti Smith and Christoph Schlingensief

And in 2008 she told me about a very good friend with whom she wanted to perform at the Haus der Kunst that evening. She spoke of soulmates.

Both discussed spirituality on stage while opponents of the exhibition protested outside.

They discussed life and death.

Two years later I met Patti Smith again

 
In her hotel room, Patti gave me her book “Just Kids.” “Robert a great love - a heavy loss”. Robert Mapplethorpe, to whom she also wanted to create a very personal monument with “Just Kids”. A “monument of friendship”. Easy to read, but for strong nerves! What a crazy life.

In June 2010, Patti Smith had an exhibition in Munich with photographs from Schlingensief's first African film project

Die amerikanische „Godmother of Punk“ Patti Smith rockt immer noch!

München. 1975 brach mit "Horses" ein neues Musikzeitalter an: das Zeitalter des Punk! Und Patricia Lee „Patti“ Smith (* 30. Dezember 1946 in Chicago, Illinois) war dabei. Sie war eine Frau. Sie rebellierte. Sie wollte keine Geschlechterrollen. Sie wollte Freiheit! Sie spielte Gitarre. Sie sang. Damals war Patti schon 29 Jahre alt. Ihre Musik und ihre Texte standen für den Freiheitsdrang einer ganzen Generation. Rebellin, Punksängerin, Lyrikerin und das alles mit Emotion. Diese Frau ist Kult! Wir trafen die Goodmother of Punk erstmals im Jahr 2008 in München.

Patti Smith steht für 49 Jahre Punk-Geschichte

Seit der ersten Platte sind fast 50 Jahre vergangen. Patti hat gesungen, gemalt, fotografiert, geschrieben und getextet. Bücher wie „Just Kids“ (ISBN 978-3596188857), in welchem Sie ihr Leben und die Freundschaft zu Robert Mapplethorne aufleben lässt, kamen heraus. Eine verrückte Zeit! 

 

Für dieses Buch bekam sie übrigens 2010 den National Book Award und wir trafen sie erneut im Hotel Bayerischer Hof in München.

"Komm mit wir trinken oben Kaffee!", sagte sie zu mir und wir fuhren mit dem Fahrstuhl nach oben. Wir setzten uns in die Sofaecke. Patti wischte mit einer großzügigen Bewegung einmal über den vollen Tisch und Bücher, Zeitungen, Zeitschriften und viele Kleinigkeiten flogen auf den Teppich. Als der Tisch leer war kam der Kaffee! Patti trank ihn schwarz und wir plauderten. Sie nahm ihre Gitarre uns spielte ein paar Akorde.

Die „Queen of Coolness“ saß bei einer Tasche Kaffee und sang. 

 

Sie begann in den 70er Jahren in New York und kannte jede Rockgröße. 

 

Wer kennt es nicht, ihr „Because The Night“! Geschrieben wurde dieser Titel übrigens von Bruce Springsteen.

Und wie sollte es anders sein: als Rockpoetin hat Patti Smith auch selbst immer neue Lieder erdacht

 

Ihr letztes Album "Banga" kam 2012 raus. An Bühnenpräsenz hat die inzwischen 77-jährige Punklady nichts eingebüßt. Sie ist sich immer Treu geblieben.

Wir erinnern uns an das Treffen mit Patti Smith in München

Eine zeitlose Frau, ca. 170 groß, einst mit brauner schulterlanger Mähne, inzwischen ehrenhaft ergraut, wurde mir das erste Mal in München im Jahr 2008 vorgestellt. In der Kunsthandlung von Georg Urban - der mit Skulpturen und religiöse Volkskunst. Wir verstanden uns auf Anhieb. Sie erzählte von ihrer Tochter, auf die sie sehr stolz ist. Die sei zwar längst erwachsen, aber sie werde ihr trotzdem mein Kinderbuch mitbringen: "Hetti Blue-Hair" - wie sie es schmunzelnd nannte. (Mein Bucher "Hetti Hexenfee. Flieg höher Hetti immer höher. Eine Geschichte aus Hexenstadt" erschien 2008)

Eine Freundschaft: Patti Smith und Christoph Schlingensief

Und sie erzählte mir 2008 von einem sehr guten Freund, mit dem Sie am Abend gemeinsam im Haus der Kunst auftreten wollte. Sie sprach von Seelenverwandtschaft.

Beide diskutierten dort auf der Bühne über Spiritualität, während draußen die Gegner der Ausstellung protestieren.

Sie diskutierten über Leben und Tod.

Zwei Jahre Später traf ich Patti Smith wieder

 

In Ihrem Hotelzimmer überreichte Patti mir ihr Buch „Just Kids“. „Robert eine große Liebe - ein schwerer Verlust“. Robert Mapplethorpe, dem sie mit "Just Kids" auch ein ganz persönliches Denkmal setzen wollte. Ein „Denkmal der Freundschaft“. Locker zu lesen, aber für starke Nerven! Was für ein verrücktes Leben.

Patti Smith hatte im Juni 2010 in München noch eine Ausstellung mit Fotografien von Schlingensiefs ersten Afrika-Filmprojekt 

 

Wir trafen damals Patti Smith und Christoph Schlingensief (1960-2010) mit diesen Fotos erinnern wir uns an dieses Treffen!
