Munich: Gerhard Richter Exhibition in May 2025

Munich - Pinakothek der Moderne - Gerhard Richter

Exhibition Announcement: Gerhard Richter's Project "81 Drawings ∙ 1 Strip-Picture ∙ 1 Edition" at the Pinakothek der Moderne

From May 2nd to June 8th, 2025, the Munich Museum will be showing Gerhard Richter (Deutsch)

Munich. According to the Pinakothek der Moderne, Gerhard Richter confronted his own hand in his studio and "completed his oeuvre of paintings." In complete seclusion, Gerhard Richter created drawings, about which he said: "The real thing, the most difficult thing, is to make something that is good." (Quote: Press release from the Pinakothek der Moderne) An artist's drawings are merciless; they reveal insecurities and inconsistencies. Everything leaves traces on the paper.

Gerhard Richter's Drawing Art in a Selection of His Recent Graphic Works

"The abundance of this virtuoso body of work is surprising in view of his entire graphic oeuvre!" proclaims the press release from the Pinakothek der Moderne.

The project "Gerhard Richter - 81 Drawings ∙ 1 Strip-Image ∙ 1 Edition,"

a project that Gerhard Richter and the Staatliche Graphische Sammlung München initiated to question the "significance of drawing in the 21st century."

The drawing and its significance as a source of inspiration for the visual arts and as an existential form of expression of the human intellect and its creative power will be discussed based on the works. Art lovers look forward to new insights!
