The fountains are located in various spots throughout the market and are named after singers and other notable figures. Every August, the Viktualienmarkt honors its fountain figures with festively decorated fountains, live music, and traditional dances. Here, you can sit comfortably under the old, shady chestnut trees, enjoy a refreshing drink, and relax before or after a shopping spree, which is always something special in Munich's city center, from Kaufingerstrasse to the Fünf Höfe shopping center and on to the elegant Maximilianstrasse.

There are Kustermann hydrants and a total of six fountain monuments that once supplied the Viktualienmarkt in the heart of Munich's old town with water – so the entire market is a celebration. The former farmers' and herb market has become a highly valued destination for gourmets and food lovers. Visitors can choose from traditional Bavarian goods, exotic fruits, and culinary specialties. Around 140 stalls and vendors, a butcher's row, and the Viktualienmarkt's beer garden are always worth a visit.
