Daniel Zamani and Florian Trott will further sharpen the profile at the Frieder Burda Museum and realize exhibition projects from classical modernism to contemporary art

 

Museum Frieder Burda: Foundation and family, house and team are looking forward to "promising changes" in the spirit of the museum's 20th anniversary year

 

Baden-Baden. The Frieder Burda Museum is bringing two museum experts into the management of the Frieder Burda Museum. With Daniel Zamani, who was previously curator and collection manager at the Barberini Museum, and Florian Trott, who is currently commercial director and member of the board of the Staatliche Kunsthalle Karlsruhe, a new leader with double expertise will move to the Frieder Burda Museum in Baden-Baden . Both experts will also be appointed to the board of the Frieder Burda Foundation, where they will organize events in the museum together with Elke Burda and son Dominic Kamp.  Daniel Zamanis will consistently develop the house's program. Florian Trott will manage all commercial, administrative and personnel matters at the house and will design the museum's communicative processes together with Daniel Zamani. The aim is to “further sharpen the profile of the house and realize exhibition projects from classical modernism to contemporary art”, which the outgoing director Henning Schaper has done so far with excellent expertise. Zamani took up his position on July 1st and Trott will enrich the museum on October 1st, 2024.

Over the last 7 years, Henning Schaper has directed important and successful exhibitions such as

•     “James Turrell – The Substance of Light” (2018),
•      “Impressionism in Russia. Departure for the avant-garde” (2021)
•     or “Value and change of corals. Christine and Margaret Wertheim” (2021)

Connections and networks on different levels

The museum will expand national and international cooperation for exhibitions with other cultural institutions. France and the donor Frieder Burda's affinity for the neighboring country will ensure that the exhibition organizers expand their focus on the Parisian avant-garde.

 

The first show that Daniel Zamani will curate at the Museum Frieder Burda

This is a retrospective of the Japanese star artist Yoshitomo Nara (starting in November 2024), which Zamani is creating in collaboration with the Guggenheim Bilbao and the Hayward Gallery in London.

Museum Frieder Burda: Stiftung und Familie, Haus und Team freuen sich auf "vielversprechende Veränderungen" im Zeichen des 20. Jubiläumsjahres des Museums

 

Baden-Baden. Das Museum Frieder Burda holt zwei Museumsexperten in die Leitung des Museums Frieder Burda. Mit  Daniel Zamani, der bislang als Kurator und Sammlungsleiter am Museum Barberini war, und Florian Trott,  der aktuell kaufmännischer Geschäftsführer und Mitglied des Vorstands der Staatlichen Kunsthalle Karlsruhe ist, wird mit doppelter Kompetenz eine neue Spitze an das Museum Frieder Burda in Baden-Baden ziehen. Beide Experten werden außerdem in den Vorstand der Stiftung Frieder Burda berufen, wo sie zusammen mit Elke Burda und Sohn Dominic Kamp das Geschehen im Museum organisieren.  Daniel Zamanis wird die Programmatik des Hauses konsequent weiterentwickeln. Florian Trott wird alle kaufmännischen, administrativen und personellen Geschicke des Hauses leiten sowie die kommunikativen Prozesse des Museums gemeinsam mit Daniel Zamani gestalten. Man möchte das "Profil des Hauses weiter schärfen und Ausstellungsprojekte von der Klassischen Moderne bis zur Gegenwartskunst realisieren", was der scheidende Direktor Henning Schaper bislang mit ausgezeichneter Expertise auch tat. Zamani hat seine Stellung bereits am 1. Juli eingenommen und Trott wird zum 1. Oktober 2024 das Museum bereichern.

Direktor Henning Schaper wird zum Oktober 2024 auf eigenen Wunsch das Museum verlassen

Henning Schaper leitete in den letzten 7 Jahren bedeutende und erfolgreiche Ausstellungen wie 

• „James Turrell – The Substance of Light" (2018),
•  „Impressionismus in Russland. Aufbruch zur Avantgarde“ (2021) 
• oder auch „Wert und Wandel der Korallen. Christine und Margaret Wertheim“ (2021)

 Henning Schaper bedankte sich  beim Kuratorium der Stiftung für die "langjährige und äußerst vertrauensvolle Zusammenarbeit und die Möglichkeit, diese Transformation des Museums noch mitgestalten zu können." (Pressemeldung des Museums vom 01. JULI 2024)

 

Verbindungen und Vernetzungen auf verschiedenen Ebenen

Das Museum wird nationale und internationale Kooperationen für Ausstellungen mit anderen Kulturinstitutionen ausbauen. Frankreich und die Affinität des Stifters Frieder Burda zum Nachbarland werden für einen erweiterten Fokus der Ausstellungsmacher auf die  Pariser Avantgarde sorgen.

 

Die erste Schau, die Daniel Zamani am Museum Frieder Burda kuratieren wird
