Munich. As the editorial team learned today, the Bavarian State Parliament passed the new Bavarian Sports Act yesterday. For the first time, the Free State is consolidating sports activities and structures into a single law. Minister of the Interior and Sport Joachim Herrmann stated: "With the Bavarian Sports Act, we want to motivate the people of Bavaria to participate in more sports and physical activity, thereby contributing to an active, sporty, and performance-oriented society – across all phases of life. The law encompasses all facets of sports – from children's and youth sports to recreational and health-oriented sports, all the way to competitive and elite sports. We want to counteract a lack of physical activity and simultaneously create the foundation for future Bavarian top-level sporting successes."

Regular exercise must be an integral part of social life, and children can be introduced to it through age-appropriate programs in daycare centers and schools

"We are strengthening physical education in daycare centers and schools, as well as cooperation between schools, youth services, and sports clubs, and laying the foundation early for talent-oriented development in competitive youth sports. In recreational sports, we specifically support sports and exercise programs so that as many people as possible can participate in athletic activities. We are also focusing on inclusion and integration and addressing volunteer work as the foundation of our local club activities," said Herrmann.

This presents the Free State of Bavaria with significant opportunities, particularly in connection with the potential hosting of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Munich

"Building on the Bavarian Sports Act, we can create successful Games: through efficient structures, strong clubs, modern sports facilities, and an open, sports-enthusiastic, and performance-oriented society!"

With its cross-departmental and cross-level approach, which also comprehensively includes organized sports in Bavaria, the law is intended to strengthen and further expand Bavaria's leading position as a successful and enthusiastic sporting state.
